Three years ago I bought a TV140 with 3000 hours on it. Windrower and loader also. The dealer was from western Iowa. I live in eastern NE. Part of the deal was to change oil and filters.... Bought the tractor in Jan, in May I am pulling a planter and the air filter light comes on. (first time I have EVER seen that happpen) Pull out the filter and it is plugged with red dust/feed. Says a lot for that dealer in Atlantic Iowa. I was unimpressed, but I did not contact him about it. I do love that tractor!

I purchased a used T1030with 41 hours on it six months ago and yesterday I had a flashback to the conversation with the sales guy. It came to my mind because I rec'd a box of the Purolater Pure One oil filters in the mail ... and I recognixed that the diesel motor uses the same filters as all my B&S vtec mower engines... of which I already had a case.

Anyway ..I recall the sales guy mention while we were looking over the tractor...."Yeah... that's a Napa oil filter on the machine... the owner changed the oil."

Thirty minutes later he told me they had already done the 50 hour service.

Then why did it still have the Napa oil filter on it?

Talk about being slow.........

Sarg, I would not second guess the dealer or myself on this issue at this late date. If your tractor is running fine and has been all along, then why lose any sleep worrying about it? There is no way to really discover what was or was not done. Don't beat yourself up making an issue of something that can't be proven one way or the other. If you had suspected something at the time and checked the oil, then you should have raised the issue right then. At this point, you are truly beating a dead horse. I mean this in a good way and not derogatory to you. Let it go and enjoy your tractor. Change the oil and do the maintenance in the future for yourself, but don't look back, especially if your tractor is doing fine.:)

Jinman ...... I hear what you're saying. But as we stumble through life we tend to migrate towards doing business with folks we have confidence in..... those that we believe are truthful and treat us properly. Something about not getting screwed over by the same folks twice.

I'll just be moving on to another dealer and definitely another manufacturer in the future.

My wife and I have been together since she was 16 years old. Right before we met she took her truck to Jiffy Lube. She drained the oil herself, but someone put the gorilla on the oil filter and she could not get it off. While she is there they bring her a nasty air filter and tell her it needs changed also. She tells them that she just changed her filter, and that hers is round and that the square one they are showing her will not fit on top of her carburetor.

They just assume that all women know nothing about cars.

Another Jiffy story is about my Grandpa. He has me come over one day to check out his Buick, it is making noise when he turns the steering wheel. First thing I do is check the ps fluid. It was dry. So much for that so point inspection.

The third Jiffy story is about my wifes Grandpa. He asks me to do a tune up on his car. He has been going to a Jiffy since his car was new. Well they had broken the clips on his air filter box over the years. They took and trimmed the foam around the filter so that it would fall into the filter box, and the lid would sit flush. So it was just laying in the bottom of the box not filtering anything.

These stories were from three different Jiffy Lubes around our area. I am not saying they are all bad, but is it worth taking a chance?

What is the problem with the manufacturer?

What is the problem with the manufacturer?

Well in my case, they don't want to sell tractors very bad. I wanted to buy a 1025 or 1030. Called five dealers within a 7 hour radius of me. Two in Michigan, three in Ontario. None could tell me if a bh could be mounted at the same time as the mm mower. I wanted to know as I was comparing features between a JD 2305 and Massey GC as my other choices.
Then they said they would talk to dealer reps and find out. None called me back. I tried once again to get quotes, no call backs or returned emails.
I then contacted NH customer service to tell them i wanted to purchase a tractor and can't get any answers. They gave me a list of dealer names, I called them, and none of them were NH dealers. Said they never were. They were parts manufacturers for NH construction Equipment. Called and emailed NH cust. service again. No replies.
Just last week I get a phone call from NH. They ask if I got an email about free Boomer implements. I said I deleted it and was about to tell them why (their crappy service) but before I could say anything she said "well I don't need to talk to you then!" and immediately hung up.

Not the kind of people I want to give 30 grand to.

Comments re reliability makes me sooooo happy I've found 2 local mechanics I TRUST.

Just yesterday, I called one, described my check engine light problem and the code it was throwing.... he said...can't get to it today, am all stacked up. He could have taken it and kept it for several days, but didn't.

Called other, talked to owner's wife who does the books, took it in at 10AM, got call at 12 noon that it was all fixed, and it was! One of multiple same-day repairs this place has done for me.... and, I told them it was NOT a rush!

Neither of these fellows has ever done anything to my numerous vehicles that I questioned, never added weird repairs, always reasonable charges, often much less than I anticipated.

I do have repair places locally that I KNOW do weird things, having listened to friends stories/problems. Always tell them about my 2 places...sometimes people don't listen, ever notice that??
