Found a Used Belltec Auger

I found a used Belltec auger with a 9 inch RAD (Rock And Dirt) auger. He's asking a little over $3,000 for it, but I think I can get it for that. It has the hydraulic top link.

Funny thing is, I purchase the same darn thing a few months ago for $4700. It was new and that's a good price for one. I just never could find a used Belltec.

I was thinking of buying this one and turning it. Anybody think I can make $500 and turn it for $3500?

I've never heard of Belltec, but the gear looks really nice. I'd look on the implement section of Ebay and see what or if they are selling.

This would be prefect for a CUT with high hydraulic flow on the front....Now that's a PHD!

Check out the price of the Blue Devil twelve inch bit. Twenty four hundred plus tax!

They charge a lot for paint. I can buy that same bit for half that. I can buy the components and make it for half of that.

I've got a twelve and a nine. They are great for the limestone we have in Texas.

You should pick up this Belltec so you won't have to use all those weights extended out on the front of your skid steer.

Why would you buy a belltec for working in Rowlette? Now if you were in Parker or north Dallas I could understand.

Yep. Nothing but black goo here in Rowlett, but the family ranch is in Williamson County, just north of Austin. For most of the place, you can't even drive a t-post without drilling a pilot hole.

I had a JD770 and a ordinary PHD modified with hydraulic down pressure. It would lift the back tires off the ground! Still, it took a beating to get just one hole dug. I know a good RAD bit would have made a difference, but it would still be hard to get a straight hole. Oh well, it was only money.

Guess I am a little biased because Beltec is just 15 minutes from my front door. I bought a used TM48 with a 4 1/2" and 9" rock bits for $2500 - came from a fellow that buys and sells used equipment and told me it came from an estate sale.

Beltec makes an adaptor not shown in the book that lengthens the pins to fit a category 3 hitch (IH-1086). The hitch arms were to far apart to fit the TM48 as I bought it.

Everything is manufactured in Belton Texas and I got to tour the plant. They sell only through dealers, but I can call the local dealer, and tell him what I am picking up at the factory and handle the transaction by phone.

The TM 48 uses the top link to transfer the weight of the tractor as down pressure on the bit with a relief valve set at 1500 pounds.

You need a dual remote hydraulic system for raising and lowering the bit, and moving the top link to level the machine.

Seems like a new setup is around $4700.
