Typically a dealer installed item. Some dealers in the cold areas automatically install them in all machines. Mine didn't come with one so I picked one up from the dealer last week and is the frost plug style. You likely don't have one but its worth looking in case.

Mind me asking what the block heater ran you with the 10deg days here lately I am thinking about it thanks

i got a sweet deal on mine--when it bought the tractor it had a scratch that the dealer was going to buff out. I said how about a free block heater and he bit. I think he said it was a $90 item. this was freeze plug style for a 335.

as a side not when installing I left the heater part in and used a impact socket to bang on and get it lined up perfectly. This will make sense when you see them. I had mine plugged in for 2 hours today when it was 5 above and block was most of the engine was warm. Fired up no problem

I have had freeze plug style heaters on all my diesel compact tractors going back to 1991. They have been a dealer installed item and they work superbly. Since I didn't want to leave mine plugged in all night I put the heater plug-ins on timers and set them so they would heat up for about 2 hours before the intended use of the tractor.

Tractors always started, providing I could.

I have the auxiliary heater in my CT225. What is the appropriate use for this when cold starting? Plug it in an hour ahead of time? I would guess you wouldn't want it to be plugged in all the time when not using.

It really depends on the temperatures you are experiencing. I can get by with an hour as long as the temps ar between 32F and 10F. At -15F I need 1-1/2 hrs. Leaving it on longer than 2hrs will not buy much. I have mine on a timer that turns on at 2:30 pm and I feed at 4:00 pm. The tractor starts in a half a turn. If I know it's going to be colder than -15F, I'll turn it on a half hour earlier. I wish I had aheater in the hydraulics because they are really slow to warm up at low temps.

I bought mine on ebay for $18 plus shpg a couple of years ago. It was a genuine Ford part and was made by Phillips-Temro. (www.phillipstemro.com)They are not expensive and they take about 20 minutes to install IF you have easy access to the core plug.

I got it from a bobcat dealer and charged me $82.99. Search PN 70000-00297 and you will find the same kit. I believe that PN is a Kubota number. The block heater that i got is made by zero start.
