Besides what goes on in my head when my youngest says he'd like a pickup to go off to college with....

What do folk's with this option on their tractor's think about it after using it awhile?

And when/how do you use it the most and how does it generally work?

Thanks.

I find it annoying and don't use it. Engines revs up and down with pushing or releasing the hydro pedal. Most times, I want the engine rpm more constant. I could see it being useful for driving down the road, pulling a light trailer at higher speeds etc. I think the only reason JD added it, is because Kubota has a similar function.

I think a foot throttle is great on a gear drive tractor. The old 20 series Deere had one. (under the truning brakes) It would probably be handy on a hydro tractor where the hydro is controlled by hand like on the older garden tractors. I think it would drive me nuts having a foot hydro and a foot throttle.

This could be turned in to the thread about where the turning brakes are located. you could put the foot throttle, hydro control and turning brakes all on the same side.

I remember an older Kabota my father had and that was a gear tractor with a foot throttle and hand throttle and dual brakes but to use the turning brakes you had to run the throttle by hand. Another stupid design never liked it!

What's stupid about it?

Perfect setup IMO.

This is still how most tractors that have a foot throttle are designed - both old and new. Many times the brakes don't need to be used often, and the foot throttle allows an easy method to change rpm. Personally, I have a few tractors with foot throttle, and I don't use it much unless just wanting to move a little faster over a relatively short distance.

AKfish,

Picture running your 110 down the driveway and approach the highway intersection, as you let off the forward pedal you are unloading the engine and the rpms rise until you reach back and push the throttle down.

Well the combination of auto throttle eliminates this type issue. When selected it will raise the engine speed as you push the forward or reverse pedal. so if you remove your foot from the pedals it returns to idle or whatever you have selected with the hand throttle. It has a natural feel to it in my opinion. Combined with the other upgraded cruise functions it is well worth the $99.

Couldn't the "auto throttle" be intended to save fuel?

It can save fuel to a degree but I suspect the idea is to be able to apply power smoothly in conjunction with the infinite speed hydrostat.
