AKfish,

No the throttle advances proportionallly with how far you press the pedal. It is intuitive and similar to pressing the pedal on a car or pickup with an automatic transmission with the exception that you don't shift through the various gears. So much smoother and controlled, you need to try it out I guess.


If that's the case - it would seem to be a great loader function - much like my experiences with the bigger JD 544 and JD 644 (maybe 624) wheel loaders.

I usually leave the Auto Throttle on my L4240, maybe I am lazy. For the work I have done with the loader, grapple it has been great. I have had no desire to control the throttle manually.

I am no expert on the computers in these tractors but some of the responses are adjustable, might be part of your issues.

well i no theres something called motion match but that was optional . i wonder if the dealer can adjust ? that may help the sitution i need to call tommorow and ask .

Not sure about the cruise you have but I am referring to the upgraded cruise with motion match and loadmatch that is a $99 option on the 4520. I really never tried out the standard cruise setup because the first thing I did when I got the new tractor was install all of the options.

All the 3000 and 4000 series have motion match. If you get the automotive cruise you get additional buttons that let you preset a 'slow' and 'fast' slowdown as well as accelerate/decelerate buttons and Speed match.

Motion match controls how fast the hydro will change speed when you accelerate and decelerate. For example, if you are on the 'short' setting and let off the hydro while doing 8mph over grass you'll probably skid on the grass. If you set it to 'long' it will slowly back off the hydro even if you side step it. It basically does the same thing (when on the long setting) as slowely backing off or pushing down on the pedal.

I usually use the longest setting when I mow or am constantly going over the grass, and the shortest setting when I'm doing loader work (I have my buttons preset to this). It does make a significant difference.

You can adjust this without the extra buttons by using the mode button and blinkers I think (Don't ask me how since I've forgotten the procedure). It's well worth it to get the automotive cruise and upgraded buttons.

The stock cruise without increment and decrement isn't very usefull since you can't change the speed once you set it. The upgraded buttons also let you access the 'SpeedMatch' feature which let's you set a max forward speed when you pin the hydro pedal. Nice when you don't want to go too fast but can't use cruise.
