SBAKF,
Here's a place to compare prices on the quotes you get for FEL implements, Skid Steer loader attachments. They list the prices for each implement. They're all SSQA.
You might also try to get a Box Scraper, with scarfier teeth, throwed in the deal for nothing. Every Kubota dealer I talked to was willing to throw one in for free - and the dealer I bought from did. It's in exellent shape. It might not be new, but who needs a new Box Scraper.
You might also find many of the SSQA implements, and your 3PT stuff, at sales. I've seen a bunch of this stuff go for pennies on the dollar. They have piles of SSQA implements at some of the equipment yards. Pretty cheap. Your local Co-op probably sells as good a HD Box Scraper as you're gonna find, for less money than the Kubota dealers. Just in case you can't get one throwed in with your tractor, for nothing. Once you finally settle on a price, for the tractor, simply tell him you'll take it if he throws in a Box Scraper. I'll bet my tractor he will.
Above all, and regardless of how you get your implements, get the tractor you like best. You'll sleep better.

What I've found strange about tractor shopping is there isn't any published pricing on these things. Ain't like cars - why the secrecy?

Not sure if anyone responded to this specific issue but you can get MSRP on any Kubota tractor and factory accessories and implements from the Kubota web site. You need to drill down to the model your interested in and then click on the "build my kubota" link right above the picture(s) of the model.

For example, click on the "build my kubota" link here for MSRP on any of the Grand L models.

Chris is right. The next trick is to try and get 10% off those prices at a dealer. Some parts of the country, 12% is quite doable, while in other areas, the dealers won't budge off virtual list. It is what it is.

TO: Chris, BP & ALL OTHERS WHO CARE TO RESPOND

Thanks for directions to the pricing. Just finished doing some printouts - package quotes. Unfortunately, there are a number of options to select for which I haven't a clue on what to do - configure.

I'm pretty sure I want a loader with a 3rd function valve and 2 lever quick-attach coupler. Not sure what it is used for though - 3rd function valve, that is. Is it used to operate say, a front mounted grapple - what else? How about bucket shape and strength? There are 3 choices: (1) 72" squareback, (2) 72" HD roundback and (3) 72" light material.

I'm thinking of adding a hydraulic post hole digger to my implement list (3-pt or bucket side mount). What hydraulics would be needed for this?

Know I should add at least 1 rear remote. How about adding 2 or perhaps 3 rear remotes - advantages of or unnecessary? When it comes to selecting remotes on the Kubota site, there are a bunch of options - total lost here on what to select from the menu - help please.

My salesman is recommending a "TOP-N-TILT" kit to add some flexibility (pitch & down pressure) to some selected 3-pt implements. Anyone have any experience with this option? This option requires 2 rear remotes.

What is a draft control kit?

Whatever tractor I choose, it will come with loaded rear tires at no charge. What tires should I choose? Salesman is pushing the R4's. Will I have any need for either front or rear mounted weights?

How about rear wiper and the rear and side window defoggers?

Lastly, what are your thoughts on the extended warranties (tractor & loader)?

A lot of your questions are very specialized and need the experience of some of the other guys on the forum.

I think it might be the right time to start a new thread specifically pointed toward all these hydraulic type questions. You'd get good response from experience guys.

I can speak to a couple of your questions with knowledge. The R4s. They are an inbetween tire. Neither an Ag nor a Turf. But they are tougher than either. They are very strong. Seem to have a much heavier cap. I have had all three and Ags are the best for traction, turfs the best for gentleness on grass, but R4 tires are simply the toughest for all around.

sbafk, I agree that a lot of the options Kubota lists are not clear on exactly what they are. Many more for a Grand L than my rather plain BX, so I didn't face all those issues. My recommendation is to compare the base tractor with loader MSRP to what prices you get from the dealers. This will tell you who's willing to deal and who's not. Chances are if a dealer is giving you a good deal on the basic tractor and loader, their prices will be no worse than others on the customization options.

Also, on rear remotes, a lot of guys add their own. There are many threads in the Hydraulics forum with good advice. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can save quite a bit of dough. I do recommend getting at least two rear remotes. Top n' Tilt is a nice option (I have the Top only on my BX and it's nice to be able to change the fore/aft angle of a blade or rake from the seat, plus it makes hooking up a little easier.) On a third function for your loader, a lot of TBN'rs have added the WR Long 3rd function kit. I'd check it out and see how the dealer pricing compares. Here's a link

Valve Kits

(oh, don't know if you can buy direct from them, so you may have to go through a dealer anyway. You can get some cost info in the Hydraulics forum)

Thanks Chris,
From Kubota's website, I'm getting a base price for the L5740 of $37,142. The salesman I'm dealing with is quoting me a price of $30,478 for a 2010 L5740 with radio and loaded rear tires thrown in at no charge. Not counting the free stuff, that's about 18% off list.

Initial quotes on the other Kubota add-ons are either at list or very near it.

Prices offered for the non Kubota add-ons are difficult to judge. My searches on the internet suggest that similar function products can be had for less - can't comment on their quality, however. Might be comparing apples to oranges.

Additionally, although I can get 0% interest for 42 months on the Kubota products, I can't get the same on the "other brand" attachments.

In regards to the hydraulic auger,

Get a FEL mounted hydraulic auger. IMO much easier to use because you are looking straight ahead. I hate having to position my auger by turning my head and driving backwards. I rented a skid steer auger and looking and driving forward when placing it makes a world of difference, especially when you are setting 30+ posts. The hydraulic auger is better because you can control it much better and you can reverse it. With a PTO auger the speed does not ramp up. Plus if it gets stuck you just back it out a little. I twisted many a shear pin on my PTO auger by not being able to stop it quick enough when it goes too deep.

What is the difference in price between these two PHD's/augers?
