guys / dolls,
my dealer has finally gotten a weld to my weight box, on my bx2360 w/land pride qh-15 quick hitch.
i need to figure out the most economical way to add 300 - 400 lbs to my box.
i need the weight for the snow blade and it's extraordinary tippy characteristic when i have the loader on.
any votes for sand? thanks in advance for any and all responses.
hookopotomous regards, shrekbelly

p.s. i forgot, i have bx wheel weights that i have yet to put on

When I owned a BX23 TLB, sometimes I left the back-ho on, but when i didn't have that on I had a back blade, have you thought of that instead of the weigh box? That way you could use the loader for heavy tasks, with weight on the back and use the back blade for smoothing out. Just my thoughts but I always figured that a weight box was just dead weight and I could have a better use for the three point attachments.

You have many choices. Sand tubes that can always be cut open and used for traction if it gets icey. Old set of weights from some lifting equipment. Know I have a set still in the basement. Buckets filled with water (yeah I know that it may freeze, just leave room) Water weights about 7 lbs per gallon. My mother in law...hehe I'll give her to you. Just about anything.

Pour cement or use cement blocks and fill the box with that. That's what I do.

yup - sand or concrete. concrete would be my preferance as you could add pockets to the box for carrying tools. sand would just collect water and then rust out the metal box and next thing you know sand is all over :p.

I have a pile of granite blocks from an old construction project. Simply loaded the Kubota Ballast Box about 3/4 full to leave room for chains and misc. tools. Works great. Water just drains through the weep holes on the corners of the box.

I made a carrier for two 150# tractor wheel weights. This allows me storage room on top for chains, tools, etc. To cover the top, I used an old grill cover.
Vertical tubes allow for carrying shovels, and long handled tools.

Tube sand. I didn't want to permanently fill the box (e.g. concrete).

I put washed gravel stones in mine.
Carry chains, etc. on top of the stones.
