So, you like the Bx1500? the dealer is telling me that the 2360 is the way to go, but the 1860 is a lot cheaper. I do not want to be cheap and have heard people say you can not buy too much, only too little. I am leaning towards the 1860 with the 54" MMM and loader. All for 11,950. Think that sounds like a good deal. My wife, said I could spend 3k. Ha, she is going to be very angry with me. Maybe I'll let her mow BEFORE I tell her the price.....

whatever you buy . . . don't let your wife drive it, or even near it.

I don't know about prices. I just contact Barlows to see their price delivered and then go from there. You can to. I had a B7800, traded it for a L3240HST then traded it to a B3200. So, I for one am telling you that you can buy/go to much and that's from buying 9 Kubotas in 6 years. As others have stated, you'll run out of traction before you run out of HP on the BX1860. A BX1860 will do all the jobs you described and more. If you want to spend more then buy a bigger one. Ask your dealer why he thinks you need a BX2360 over a BX1860. Maybe he makes $37.50 or $100 more on the BX2360 over the BX1860 or maybe he doesn't have a BX1860 on his lot and is having to pay a little extra to get one or maybe a trip to Disney World if he sells more BX2360's. Who knows if he won't/can't give you a real answer that matches the jobs you tell him you want to do with the tractor.

leaving my wonderful goddess wife out of the garage and off/away from my bx is mandatory.
on a more serious note, i choose bx2360 for greater power at pto for the use of a tiller.
bx2360 has 1" greater clearance, which may make horsing the mower deck out easier. the two 48" decks have a set of fixed front gauge wheels. both 54" decks have 4 wheels that can be turned sideways for easier rollout
bx1860 will run either of the 54" decks, standard or finecut.

i should probably be in the outdoor power equipment junkie's hall of shame, as i will admitt to getting addicted to the sweet purrings of all the honda gx ohv motors (5 to 8hp) . . . but, there is in my opinion, no finer music than the gurgling and bubbling of my d902 kubota diesel. what a sweet and powerful
3 cyclinder . amen - shrekbelly

3* why do you have to have a 48"?
I prefer at last a 54* maybe even a 60 inch because they leave less to trim with a back breakin string trimmer.
1*I do not 'have to have' but would prefer the 48" mmm. I currently have a 48" mmm on my JD LX188 and it suits my mowing duties well, fits between all three of my gate post, fits in my mini barm, and
2*with a little rubbing, fits between the wheel wells of my truck.
3*I have the L3940 with 72" rd finish mower for the big areas so I don't really need a 54" or 60" deck. Philip
1* I replaced a CC GT2554 with a 54 ''mmm.
with a Kubota BX1500 with 48'' mower.
Wish I'd have gotten the 54 '' mower for the BX1500.
When mowing along side of walls fences and such I have to watch that I don't scrape the fenders on what I'm mowing along.
Banks and ditches present another problem as you have to stay further away from the edge to prevent caving in which results in more area to weed trim .
Your JD and the CC I had are built narrower than the BX1500 or BX1860 so a 48'' don't work as well as they do on the narrower tractors.
2*I would not recommend hauling a BX1860 or a BX2660 in a pick up truck bed.
3*I have a 60'' mmm on the BX23 for the larger open area but i still miss having a 54'' mower like I had on the CC for the rest of the property.

1*I love both of mine; but I also like my Bx23 too.
2*That just isn't true .
The best is the right tractor for the task intended.
3*I see nothing wrong with that.
I bought my BX23 new 11/2004 and have put over 1200 hours on it doing more than you can ever imagine .
It has always suprised me and never dissapointed me.
In 2007 I bought 2 BX1500s 1 new 1 used .
It didn't take long for me to realize I could have done everything i did with the BX23 except BH work with the BX1500 .
Id' say i discovered this within the first week or 2 of owining the BX1500s.

to the OP, from what you've described as your tractor needs, the 1860 will be more than enough. Between the two tractors, I see two measurable differences, and one is not really a tractor difference. First, the FEL for the 2360 will lift more weight - about 500 lbs max vs 410 +/- for the 1860. That difference is due to the loader model, not tractor as they both put out the same hydraulic PSI and flow. Second, PTO hp. The 2360 is about 17 PTO hp while the 1860 is 13.7 hp. The PTO hp difference may be important if you're going to run a chipper or some other power eating rear PTO implement. (Nevertheless, my 1860 runs a DR chipper with no issues up to about 4" diameter branches.)

So, if either of these differences truly matters to you, then go for the 2360, otherwise the 1860 will do all you want and then some.

To the OP: You began with saying, "Both would be overkill".

You also mentioned your wife and her preference for keeping within a budget.
You mentioned limiting your size due to gates, shedding, etc.

From all that, I'd say keep your money. If the BX1860 is overkill, then so be it. You are gonna love it!!! I love mine. Want to see it work?

Point taken about the BX1860 being wider than the JDLX188 and the deck not sticking out past the rear fenders. I will look into that detail during the Farm show next month in Louisville. Thanks.

I think the bed on my SuperDuty will eat the BX1860 without any problems. My ramps are rated 1500#. Truck is rated 2200#. For a quick trip or small job, I dont always like dragging out the 18' trailer.

Just keep in mind, the 1860 alone, dry, weighs almost 1300. Add fuel, mower deck, or FEL, quick hitch, etc and you'll easily push the limits on your ramp. Your 2200 bed capacity is well able. I might be concerned about lashing it down, but I am sure you have that figured out already. Best regards on your shopping.
