I have a chance to buy any amount of 32' span steel trusses. These are the ones that come out of chicken houses. They say you can span them 10' apart and mount them on 6"x8" post. I am just trying to get a picture in my head of how that will work. Anyone else ever seen this done?

yes we have a shop building made with some that were 36' wide x 60' and raised them up with concrete posts so there would be enough room for a 12' door, welded purlins to them and put steel on sides and roof

I know first hand that you don't wanna stand under them when the chickens are roosting.

Tomco - Do you have pictures of your building from the inside, What span between the trusses did you use? I just need a picture of where a person would fasten the leg of a truss to a post or concrete pillar or wall. I do not quite understand what they look like and noone has any pictures, lol.

I assume we are speaking of the same style truss, actually I am looking for engineered plans for them so I could build and sell them.

Personally, I think this is one of the best, most efficient ways to build a pole barn / building and am constantly amazed that more are not built in this style.

My 30 X 36 barn I just completed was built this way from the company linked (I erected it) 30' truss, 12' OC 2 x 6 purlins and girts.

I absolutely love the headroom that you get and most folks think it is a much larger building because of the open air when you come in.

I just saw an ad/auction in my area for the sale of 11, 40x500' chicken houses. You can disassemble or they will do it for you. I wonder if a 500' shed would be long enough?:D
