Time for a set of dentures for my Yanmar 240D. LOTS of greenbriar and assorted underbrush to clear and a little light digging. Gumming this stuff ain't gettin' it! I've been doing quite a bit of reading up on the subject and am undecided between adding individual teeth or a tooth bar. I was initially thinking about the bar (ease of installation) but saw some negative feedback such as this (Would you use a tooth bar? If so, who's? - Heavy Equipment Forums ). Being able to remove them is not important, I probably never will. Just want something that is durable for those occasional stumps, rocks, etc. Any thoughts? And do you think the stock edge on the YFL240 loader is strong enough for bolt on teeth if I go that route?

I sure like my W.R. Long Toothbar.
It has the teeth level with the bottom of the bucket so it gives me a smoother backdrag without having to drag with only the backside of the bucket. I like the easy two bolt bar removal for when I want to plow snow from the driveway.

I'd be afraid of catching one tooth on something stout enough to tear the bucket. A tooth bar would spread out that kind of force lateraly, rather than concentrate it directly under the affected tooth. I went heavy duty, mounting a 60" toothbar that weighs in well over 100 pounds. Plus I welded reinforcing plates on the bucket sides before drilling the mounting holes. The toothbar absorbs abuse that my bucket barely even feels.

A rental company i used to work for only bought there cat loaders with the buckets with teeth

Now the teeth have mounts so you just knock out the pins and replace the teeth so what they do is put a smooth blade the same size as the bucket in front of the bucket against the original blade and mount old teeth on the mounts and weld them onto the top of the new piece of blade so you now have a smooth blade.

Knock out the pins and remount the teeth when needed but you still have the mounts for the teeth in the bucket that can be a pain sometimes when using the loader for other things but it works and is a simple solution :D

I use "Loader Buddy" that has 1" solid tines that are 6" long and are an integral part of the bucket and has a unique advantage in that they are positioned within the loader arms and therefore greatly reduce the chance of tweaking your loader. It also has the advantage of being able to handle long material and is perfect for rocks too. I rarely take mine off.

Magicheater, can you post a link to the "Loader Buddy". I can't seem to find any info on it. I did however find the pics you posted here, looks good.

I bought my 60" toothbar from a tractor dealer on ebay for $168 and free shipping. My BIL just bought one last week from same dealer but for around $200 plus free shipping. Both fit perfectly with only a one bolt holding system. I have used mine digging roots, rocks etc and never even a hint of bending or deforming and it is still as tight as the day I mounted it.

The WR Long flat tooth bar also looks good but no dealers in my area.

I like my WR Long flat tooth bar as well. It does a lot to strengthen the bucket edge and was easy to install.
Any equipment dealer can become a W.R. Long dealer by giving them a call and I think submitting some references. I know that my tractor dealer was glad to do it and get me a tooth bar. I think I had the bar in less than a week after taking the information to the local dealer.
