Maybe they pay property tax on the portion that's touching the ground.....

I can see now it's steel cables attached to the pipe and anchored back to the hill, you can see the posts that were removed.

Was this an experiment, doesn't look to safe.

Maybe it was done to replace sinking posts?

JB.

Bingo you got it.

The building is small and built out of light weight materials - self weight is minimal.

The beams are loaded like a diving board. Uplift anchors or similar needs to hold down the end of the beams from overturning.

I would not want to have a party on the inside - live load may be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Well I had to move the building from on the hillside my daughter wanted to raise chickens and this was her play house(It was going to be my fuel storage building when she outgrew it). Here is the start. How strong is your 3PH and pig pole?

The building was setting on 4x4 posts and the way that I built it I had to cut them off. Kind of nerve racking but the IH424 had a brute of a 3PH. The pics are not doubles look at the 4x4 posts.:)

The first pic is of the Chicken Queen in all her splendor and she is directing her royal subjects. She really is a great daughter.
In the second pic you can see the cable attached to the building and running up the hill to a poplar tree. That is where the winch is attached.
You can see in the 3rd pic that the building was not held up by the tractor at all. It was the cable and winch.

My question is why? Did you install the building using the cable as a novelty or was there a practical reason for using the cable instead of supporting the building with vertical posts?

You must have skipped over it. I built the building on 4x4 posts for my daughter several years back and she wanted to start raising chickens and that building looked like it would make a fine chicken coop. So the picks were from lowering the building to the level area. I notice how odd it looked when I stopped for a rest and said I have to get some pics. I had misplaced the pics and just found them today. I did this building relocation in 2008.
