For an update, its still snowing here in Jefferson County, West Virginia. I just came in from digging out the heat pump and some spots on the roof that are well over two foot. I am debating on getting the 4115 out now or wait until the snow stops. I am glad to have plowed some last night because this stuff is deep. I wish I had a snowblower but the front end blade is fine. The only problem with the 6 1/2 ft Curtis power angle blade is the weight on the front boom but I have plenty of ballast in the back with a heavy disc harrow. This setup looks like it would break the tractor in half but its a tough machine. Thanks everyone, Larry

It's still coming down hard in central VA. I went ahead and took the FEL off my 790 and put the snow blade on. Actually, I really like the FEL for clearing snow because I can make big piles with it, but the snow plow is a lot faster. Like etcallhome, I'll probably end up plowing the neighborhood. Also, for some reason the front blade doesn't leave as "slick" a surface as the FEL edge.

Fortunately, I think we have enough snow that I feel good about firing up the Cat D4. At 20,000lbs and packing a 10' wide blade, it'll move some snow....

From what reports I'm hearing here on the west coast, sounds like that D4 might just be the right machine for the job. :)

Be safe and stay warm.

Newtogreen, I feel your pain. I'm here in Berkeley County, WV and we have 4 ft-plus snowdrifts at the front and rear door and well above 30 inches of snow in the remaining parts of the property. I used my JD4110 with loader and rear blade to clear things last night, but with the blowing snow, you can't tell I did any work at all. Like you...I will be looking at buying a snowblower for the 4110. Think I'm going to wait until it's all over before I try again, which looks like it will be about 10pm tonight in our areas. Good luck!

Just a little advice for you folks not used to large amounts of snow. Up here, roofs are designed with snow load in mind, I don't know about down there.

You *might* want to shovel your roof before you plow. Not as much fun, I know, but.....

glc24 what part of SW pa are you in,,

Hello et
I am in Big Beaver Borough, which is part of Beaver Falls. We are about 5 minutes away from Chippewa. We ended up with 22". I know one thing for sure,I need a snow blade and chains on this bad boy. I had to dig it out 3 times:mad: Two weren't bad,but I fell of the side of the road (couldn't tell where in the heck the road was) and that was a bugger. My truck wouldn't budge it,four people and an hour and a half later it was back on level ground.

I used to like snow:rolleyes:

glc24 know what you mean about getting stuck.. Same thing happened to me had 5' rear blade ,setting straight across , and 47 blower on frt...Got to close to edge down far enough I couldn't come back up on road..I even shoveled , and turned rear blade to inline with tractor. Yelled for my father in law ,pulling me backward and with him going backward down hill ,state had just plowed and ashed he had a hard time getting me out..
I did 14 driveways plus church parking lot. Started at 7a, came in for 30-40 min went back out and walked in house tonight at 7pm
One long day but 47 blower did a go job ..
