Just a tongue in cheek comment, that came to mind as I was changing the bearings on my winch.
Does anyone else find they can't accomplish the simplest task, unless they bust a knuckle open?

After decades of busted knuckles - I finally tried a pair of mechanics gloves (got a free pair with my Hobart welding gloves)

They work great - but I seem to always have to pull them off - some things just require bare hands - then I get tired of the on and off - so go without - so I still draw blood regardless.

So, Jstpssng, I would say your are 100% correct- spilled blood is mandatory

Sometimes, that's the only way I can tell that I'm making progress.

I hired a roofer once who told me that in his family: "If you aren't bleeding or hurting somewhere, you aren't working hard enough."

True that.....:D just simple tasks hook'n up rear blade to three piont, dropping the pin on or pinching your own fingers while hitching an implement to the drawbar. Drawing blood is just mandatory. When bleeding is combined with bruised with occasional cussing, then you know you are getting something done.

This is what voids warrentys, company mechanics find blood stains. Proves that the owner tried fixing it themselves :D

Debrushing fence is where I shine. I've had it running down my arms and dripping off my fingers....and wasn't even aware of it, until blood was everywhere. I just keep working, while my wife is screaming you need to go to the emergency room. Blood thinners will do that to you.

I not only have the Blood thinner thing going which keeps me bleeding every time I work. I also have a way of always picking up the wrong end of the steel I just cut with my torch or grinder. I have no fingerprints just blisters.
