2010 Kioti DK40SE w/ KL401 Loader
Seems I have always made a habit of going about things backwards as I have already been active in the forum for a few days now and just realized I should introduce myself here. So I'll go ahead and help you with your deduction, I'm not the brightest star, but be assured, I've got no problem with that.:(

My name is Blane. Live right in the middle of Georgia. Have spent the last 31 years in the fire service and intend to hang it up at the end of this year.

Have always loved tractors, but don't have much operating experience. I do have countless hours pulling a rotary cutter with my brother's old ford 3600. Last year I picked up a worn out old ford 1715 w/ FEL and began getting some experience with the loader. I came to the conclusion that I would like to spend some of my retirement time doing some light tractor work if I can pick some up. Also, I take care of 640 acres here in the area that belong to my brother who lives in NC.. It has about 300 acres of planted pines with the rest being wooded and a 75 acre lake. We use it for fishing, hunting deer, turkey, wild hogs, etc. We have 7 food plots that range from 1.5 acres up to about 5 acres. These plots have not been planted in the last 5 years because my brother bought another farm in NC and took all his equipment with him except the 3600 which he left so I could keep the grass and weeds cut. I would like to plant these plots, therefore:

I began researching tractors and finally landed in the seat of a 2010 Kioti KD40SE w/ the KL401 FEL and I couldn't be happier. Really, I'm in heaven but as I said, I don't have any experience with farm implements, so that's one reason for joining this forum. I have already gotten some really good responses as to what my 40 can handle as far as bottom plows and disc harrows are concerned which is what I'm in search of. I still welcome any advise from any of you who have the experience I'm needing.

Well, I don't want to bore you with to much wind here so I'm gonna cut it off for now. Hopefully you'll let me share more with you in the future. I have been really pleased so far with this forum and am having fun with it. I have gained a wealth of info from it already. Looking forward to reading your responses. Oh yeah, did I say that I Love Tractors!

PS. I also own and operate a small sign business. I couldn't resist the temptation of adding something to the KD40. The one pic is of the mean coyote I put on the bonnet.

Welcome Blane! Always glad to find a new friend here on TBN.:)

Interesting threads can be found scattered all over TBN and I have grown to like the "Since My Last Visit" link. It allows me to scan one location for interesting new posts which catch my eye. Spend some time...do some reading...you'll find what works for you to get around. You will also begin to recognise names of people who always have great advice to give and make some great friends along the way!

PS: DeepNdirt & dex3361 seam to always have something interesting to say. Watch for threads with posts from them.

Thanks to all above. This will obviously become my new "get away". Just got a feed on a bottom plow. Jumping up from here and traveling 60 miles to have a look. If I come back with it, I'll post a pic and y'all can tell me if I did okay.

Hey Blane..glad to see another Georgian on board..nice looking tractor and I agree with deepndirt - once word gets out you do tractor work you will be covered up...you may want to get a tiller since if it is the way it is around here a lot of folks will call you to prepare their garden plots..
