UDT or SUPER UDT ?

I also like to see new posts, even posts that cover old topics...
There is always a chance something new will be added.
AND if it was interesting the first go around, odds are it's still going to be interesting. new posts and new replies are what keep this particular information board very popular and keeps people coming back.
If you have seen a previous discussion and you think it has things said that need to be looked at post a link to that discussion, can't hurt, and may help someone that missed it the first or the last go around.

As to UDT or SUDT... I use a UDT equivalent from Tractor Supply. It is a straight weight like UDT. I have a GST tractor and it gets cold, at times here below freezing. I give it a little time to warm up.
SUDT is a good multi viscosity fluid, you might not need to give it the little extra time to warm up...
But if you are using SUDT because it is better than UDT. Then you might consider using a full synthetic trans/hydraulic fluid. All the cold and hot weather properties you could ever want. And about the same price as SUDT (not synthetic). KennyV

This subject probably has been beaten over and over since 2002 but is new to many new and old members. I don't understand why someone has to always tell someone to use the Search Function. What was new a few years ago won't hurt anyone from learning or re-learning again!!

I've been twisting wrenches professionally since the mid-50s and I can always learn except from the know-it-alls that don't know anything but think they do.
Have a nice day,
Jim

Why? Easy since there is NO NEW GROUND on this subject. I agree re-learning is great but you would will lack moving forward since you are re-hashing old 2002 data. Add in the fact nothing new has come about in the last 8 years. The search is there for a reason..When something new pops up I would post the answer but in about 45 seconds using the search, I can find over 200 posts on everything that was stated here...BONG.

Example, I have been here since 2002 and not much has changed on the SUDT, BX series sticking peddle, oils to use, etc....It is all there using the search. I do not know all but I know WHERE TO FIND IT...

I have another theory as well.

When a new guy finds this site, he reads excitedly about a few current threads, perhaps, then HIS OWN pressing question gets posted, with little thought. It's human nature. Frankly, it may not even dawn on a true nubie that his question has been asked a zillion time previously.

The search feature doesn't occur to many, first time visitors. Finally, the search feature doesn't just jump right off the page to some. Sounds strange to those who have hung around here awhile. Finally, filling out a search form takes a moment's thought and some folks just cannot be bothered. It's easier to just post. Nonetheless, I try to be gracious about it.

I agree and understand it but the chances of people finding something new on somethings is VERY slim in today "net" world. My take is if they cannot take about 20 seconds to find and enter in the word (in search), wow they are <blanked>.

That is why I do not post much..Not much new. I know on my BX24 I had to remove all the safety junk since I loved my old BX22 (had ZERO)..This board posted on what is what on it...That I loved! :)

These are discussions and I think thats what most folks come here for. If all we discuss is new stuff there would be few posts. If I see a post on a topic that is of no interest to me I don't read it.

Because that is the bases of a forum...They are helping if they read it.

Funny, back in the day I would see where this topic would going...

Well that that sums it up...aka sad. People need to utilize that search function that is why the great "M" made it.

But I agree on the no interest deal but I will post that it is old. Just my take since the same issue keep coming up and really about time 101 here.

YMMV

Seems to me that in the amount of time it took to tell them to use the "search" function, you could've just answered the question.

SW03,
After reading your replies I felt that you were a source of wisdom that I could learn from so I used the search function to bring up all your past postings and replies in as much as you stated yesterday that you have been on TractorByNet since 2002. Funny thing is that according to this forum you've only been a member since August 2008. That makes me conclude that if you had been a member for the last 8 years then you must have changed your ID so if that is the case please give me your past ID so that I can further appreciate your input of the last 8 years. One thing that leaves me with a question is that some of your replies don't make sense and others contradict what you post on various occasions.

An example of this is when you stated back on the 23rd of September, 2008, that SUDT can be, as designed, used as an engine oil. This caused me to bring up all the SAE Papers regarding SUDT, especially SAE Technical Paper 972788 from 1997 Titled "Development of High Performance Transmission/Hydraulic Fluid (Kubota Super-UDT)" This was easy for me to research as I subscribe to the the SAE Technical Papers. Somewhere in my search I missed finding the fact that Kubota meant for SUDT to be used for not only as a Transmission Fluid and a Hydraulic Oil, but also as an Engine Oil. Can you please enlighten me as to your source of this information? I'm really looking forward to reading that.
Thank you,
Jim
