Kioti DK40SE Hydro
Not to toot my own horn, but I think of myself as pretty handy. I have a shop full of tools & have tackled some good sized mechanical projects. But......today I was changing the fluid on the DK40SE. I removed the tranny drain plug, the differential plugs, and changed both hydro filters. I then(along with a son in law & his friend) spent no less than 45 min trying to screw the dang tranny plug back in:mad:. It would just wobble around & refused to start on the threads which were perfect.

Finally, I took the plug into the shop and removed the two stacked magnets................VIOLA...it threaded right in!. Sooooo, I put one magnet back on and again got it to thread, so that is the way it is going to stay. The dadgum magnets are so strong, they pull the plug over preventing the threads from lining up.

Anyway, I just thought I would post this hour of my life that I will never get back in hopes that a fellow TBNer will benifit.........

An hour lost is not funny. But, your story is:D. Who would have though? Obviously not Kioti!

Now you see why we charge so much for a service:eek:

I need to print off your post and blow it up so I can hang it at my service desk!;)

I found with my DK35 that if I used both hands, one to hold the plug stright and the other to turn it I had better success getting it to thread correctly. Still not a simple task but I was able to do it within about 3 or 4 tries.

My CK30hst was the same way the first time I did my changes. They are strong little magnets. Kind of question your ability until you get the hang of it. :D

The large hydro filter on the starboard side also has a set of magnets in it, so removing one out of 4 shouldn't cause a meltdown.

Yeah, one hand, two hands, I almost took off my boots & tried it with an extra foot or two.......even with opposible thumbs the magnets defeated me........

even a caveman can do it............NOT :>o

Wow am I glad I read this one before I do my first service. Knew nothing about them. I tend to get tempered and a bit wordy when I run up on such things. Thanks for posting it!

This can become a real problem if your drainpan isn't huge enough to hold the entire sump's oil charge. What you need to do is thread the plug in when your drainpan gets full, go dump the drainpan, and then finish the lube drain. If you can't get the threads to catch then you won't be able to stop the drainage = major overflow.
