Another pipe-on-the-FEL for pushing snow

Yes Larry's work is awesome, but wont work on my plow.

Any type of hand held saw or grinder would be tough to run a straight cut in heavy steel pipe IMO.

What about a table saw with a metal blade? at least you would have the rip fence to help keep it straight.

What if you used a steel pipe and forget about the slot?

Weld an angle, or some tabs, to the back side, so that you could bolt it to the plow?

That would be my approach to the problem as well. I`m liking the look of Larry`s solution for the FEL cutting edge, I`d hate to wear it out in the first winter though.

A plasma cutter would cut that slot in about 5 min, and do a nice job. If it is galvanized, don't breathe the fumes. Two flat plates on the end pieces, and bolt to the bucket.

You might not feel anything at the time, but it's pretty common acceptable knowledge not to breathe burnt galvanized smoke.

Just like you shouldn't breathe the smoke from welding rods, pretty nasty stuff in there, it's gonna happen, just not good for you, especially long term exposure.

Don't have a Plasma cutter, actually I don't even know anyone I could ask to borrow one from

I like the idea of plate on the ends, but mines going on a plow blade, any ideas, has to be quick on and off like pins instead of bolts. I only need it for small part of my total plowing.

Safety inspectors make a very big deal about not breathing in the smoke from welding galvanized metal - the zinc fumes can cause problems lasting 24 hours or so.

One of the signs of breathing too much galvanized metal fumes, is the victim says they are fine.

Seriously, it really is not a good thing to breath any kind of fumes. These are among the worst I regularly encounter.

Always drink a glass of milk before welding Galvanized steel , keep your head out of the fumes and have regular breaks to get some fresh air . It WILL make you very sick so be aware .
