I got my new truck.

Well it's been a while since i've posted, been really busy with work but a few of you will remember me asking about trading my GMC Sierra Ext cab for a new F-150. I finally took the jump yesterday and got it. I wanted to say thanks for the people a few months back that helped me decide on a new truck.
I have to say i LOVE this truck.
2010 Fx4 super crew 3.73 rear end 5.4l 6 speed auto loaded with everything other than Nav and leather which where two items i didn't want. I have a garmin and leather was never for me in a pickup. The cloth Ford used in the FX4 is so much nicer than the lint trap GMC used on their seats.
Well here are some pictures you can see my old GMC up front crying as i say goodbye to it :laughing:

Great looking truck. I'll probably go with the same engine/rear end as you did in an older (2005-06) F250.

You're right about the cloth seats. My 01 F150 XLT (4.6L Triton) has those nice-looking seats and they wear like iron.

Nice looking truck.
As a Ford F-150 owner / driver for the last 22 years let me say that I think your much better off with the leather interior. I think the upholstery materials that ford is currently using Sucks !
My last 2 trucks, a 2004 FX4 and my current 2006 have taken there fair share of wear and tear despite my best efforts of care and diligance.
I feel the current material is very prone to staining and is also very thin.
Both of the last 2 trucks suffered permanent water stains to the seat from rain water that came in from a slightly opened window. Even a proffesional cleaning wouldn't remove them.
My current truck, the 06 now has a small hole in the drivers seat from what started out as a tiny wrinkle. One day I tried to smooth out the wrinkle, don't ask me why, and the material just let go. I am amazed and disgusted in how thin the material seems to be.
My 2000 and my 2003 had a much more durable type fabric.
The next Ford I own will have leather. Unfortunatly by then I am sure Ford will find a way cheapen that up even more.

what didn't you like about the sierra?

Nothing Sierra was a great truck with amazing MPG. But i needed a 4 door truck to haul the kids in and Ford has a better 4 door truck, much more room in the rear. If my Sierra was a 4 door i doubt i would have traded but i have to say the more i drive this ford the more i love it, I love the center console shifter. it also overall feels so solid and well built. got to test the 4X4 today trying to get a trailer pulled out of the shed. Snow was a bit deeper down there than i thought. But nothing to where i was working the truck i normally baby my trucks until the get broken in.

On build a ford on ford.com the Fx4 with my spec 5.3L 3.73 rear etc it says 9700 lb

which i pull only about 7000lb Max, normally 5500 is my tow amount so well within my needs i doubt i'll ever max out it's towing cap.

I wonder which F-150 has ford claimed 11K towing cap.

I saw that 11k also and was wondering the same thing.

I suppose I would have to go to a dealer to find out, which is sort of the whole idea.

Yup i got the break controller.
It works pretty good i'm impressed and the best thing is it's not down below where i can whack my legs on it.

Ah long box reg cab. hmmm you would think you would want a heavier truck than that to pull that much weight the long bax reg cab i would think would be lighter than even a short box super crew. I guess it comes down to wheel base.
I did notice that the 6.5 foot box on my truck has a lower towing cap than the 5.5 box. i thought that was odd.

It all comes down to weight. Your truck is probably 1,000# heavier than a 2 wheel drive long box reg cab. All the goodies you have like 4x4, 2 extra doors, ect weigh more.

The HD tow package they have available in the basic truck gives you heavier axles with 7 lugs, heavier suspension, ect. Its really about the same truck as a 3/4 ton gasser of 10 years ago. GM also makes about the same thing.
