I've only seen snow like that once. A few years ago, we had record snowfall in the mountion passes. I made a trip to Eastern Washington with my kids and stopped on the way back at Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 so that the kids could play in the snow at the ski resort. I made a wrong turn and ended up in the area where the condos are. The snow was 1/2 way up the second story of the condos. The road we were on was cleared about 15 feet wide and was cleared into the garages - all vertical walls. Some of the houses had decks which you could see the end of in the cleared area to the garage and the snow was about one foot higher than the railing. I wish I'd had a camera and could have taken pictures. It was really weird to be in a man made snow canyon like that.
That same year the news showed them shoveling ten feet of snow off the roof of the lodge at the ski resort so it wouldn't collapse.
