As opposed to that other gas powered truck that has a GCWR of over 26k...?At least you know that you will never need a CDL when you are using a Hemi!
It's a stupid numbers game that Ford has to play to make their trucks look tougher. You cannot legally tow any more with a Ford then you can with a Dodge or GM without proper licensing. These trucks are so tough now they are limited by CDL requirements instead of the trucks ability.
This is EXACTLY what started this whole conversation that has been dragged out way too much. My initial comment was why would Ford list some ridiculous tow capacity of 21k lbs if you cannot even come close to that without a CDL license. That is why I said:
Of course, by empty I meant the trailer empty and not the truck. Apparently I had to clarify that later on.

The Power specs HAVE NOT been released yet.
GM will hold thier own. How fast people forget that Ford was almost in line with the rest, only thing that saved them was multiple equity swaps.
IFS is not inferior in anyway to the SFA. What is the weak link in the SFA ?? Ball joints, and it is only as storng as them.
I'll repeat myself again since it's obvious your the one I need to keep clarifying for. :mur:What started this discussion was your comment about needing a CDL just to drive the truck without a trailer.
Yup, now Ford is misleading buyers with these ridiculous tow ratings and class 5 GCWR's in a class 3 truck. It's true any brand truck with a GVWR over 12k will need a CDL for a trailer rated at 14k but at least the other manufacturers lay it out in plain English and limit the trucks to a GCWR of 26k and limit the tow capacity rating of the truck to stay within those limits. They don't need to "trick" you into thinking you can haul more...Has anything really changed?
Any brand and model of truck with a GVWR over 12k + a 14k trailer needs a CDL.
You need to take a look at the GM 3500 trucks Dmace. They now have a GVWR that is over 12K.
