IIRC, you do not get email notification if you respond to your own thread, only if someone else (like me) responds.

Thanks,
Confirmed, no update messages about my own updates.

GOOD NEWS, GOOD NEWS, GOOD NEWS !!!
Y'All were right - so I was wrong, which is OK because I learned something(s).

My test e-mail address gets messages about thread updates (global warming news still rages on) and info messages when I receive private messages - thanks Aaron.

So, either TBN dislikes me being on Earthlink and refuses to talk to me there - UNLIKELY !!!
or
Earthlink has decided that TBN is a spammer - somewhat more likely.

I will switch back, watch for updates and then start some "communication" with Earthlink about all this.
IF they offer a solution I will post about it.

Muhammad and other moderators: Let me know what, if anything you would like me to gather from Earthlink, or to forward to them.

Thanks again to everyone who helped - we're getting close.... close_ERRRrrr anyway (-:
----------------------
PS Oh yeah, this also confirms that I can in fact edit in changes to my e-mail address and TBN updates it's distribution list - it would seem within minutes.

Moderators;
Redbug sent me this link, I think it is how Earthlink would LIKE suspected spammers (who are legit) to get unblocked.

If TBN has received this message, or something similar, can you please respond appropriately ?

I have this image of automated mailers responding to automated mailers, on and on, until one decides that the other is a spammer and just goes away to sulk (-:
So it probably requires some human intervention at some point.

Email Blocked by EarthLink

Thanks,

The system administrators need to send Earthlink their IP to have the blocks removed...have they been bounced back on subscription notices?

To have the block removed and be able to send email to EarthLink customers, send an email to the blockedbyearthlink@abuse.earthlink.net with the subject as <Blocked 段nsert your email server痴 IP?gt; (example: Blocked 255.255.255.2555). If you do not know your email server痴 IP address, talk with your domain痴 email administrator to get the correct IP address. Please include the headers and error returned in your original bounced message if possible. Emails not sent in this format may be rejected. Once the email has been sent, you will receive a ticket number to reference. Your issue will be resolved with 24-48 business hours.

Hey guys,
I suffered a mental blockage on that.
SOMEHOW I didn't grasp the idea of setting up a temp e-mail account and giving it's address to ONLY tbn - - in blonde-speak "Duhh".
I was thinking that ALL my mail from everywhere else would go there.

OK, tomorrow - thanks again and sorry it took so long to sink in.
{feelin' kinda dumb right now}

HA! I knew you were missing something when you made the comment about all your e-mail... :) Glad you have a handle on it now. Let us know the results.

The moderators can't do anything about the "workings" of TBN. They can just post, clean up posts, etc... nothing to do with the mechanics. ;)

I guess I was kinda/sorta hoping that as a "CUSTOMER" of whoever hosts TBN, and/or services the "Back end" Muhammad or a moderator could prevail on the vendor.

My guess is that there is a TBN 'bot that just bats the rejection messages back to Earthlink.
It needs to have it's knobs and switches adjusted.
IOW human intervention is required.

There is a potential business impact; We are not having our attention drawn to TBN, it's info., OR it's advertisers as much as the advertisers expect.

What does your ISP have to say about it?

This issue is caused by Earthlink and/or ATT, AOL and various others, who routinely and arbitrarily count emails as spam --- SOLELY because a user of theirs marks an email as "spam." This is their way to "manage spam."

We have tried to get ATT, AOL and other services to "unblock" our address for almost 3 years. We have submitted, re-submitted and contacted all of these services, and also had our top sysadmin directly try to resolve the issue. Either they do not understand, or do not care, that we and our users, along with tens of millions of others are affected in this way.

So long as 1) these services provide their users with a big "Report As Spam?" button, and 2) if they get a few, or even ANY emails reported in this manner, they will block an ISP, you will have this problem. We are not causing it, and cannot resolve it.

Believe me, I wish their were an easy solution, but there is not any available from such providers. As long as there is email, and as long as these companies use arbitrary and ruthless methods such as this, blocked emails are going to occur.

My suggestion is that you open a Gmail account and use that for your TBN and similar affected providers. Gmail at least has intelligent people behind it, with very sophisticated spam fighting algorithms that do not destroy legitimate email. They can and do distinguish between true spammers, and large sites like TBN that generate significant legitimate emails as part of doing business.
