the 85&9540 are built on the same chassis....I had the 7040 then upgraded to 8540....unfortunately, I've got a small frame (personally) so I can't rightly compare....but in terms of features, the 85 is a big step above the 7040....the wheel size on the 95 is slightly bigger that the 85 though both sizes are compatible with each model....go with larger wheel size if you get the 85....sorry can't help w/your fit, seems that 6'2" should not be a problem unless you've got real long legs.....good luck! bb

My dealer hooked me up with a local guy who bought an 8540 open station a few years ago. He rents them out so he let me "play" with it for awhile.
The spacing on the deck is a little better than the 7040 but still off to the side on the right requiring me to twist my foot outward to reach it.
I will be on this tractor all day, most days this spring/summer/fall so I have to pass on the open station Kubota's. Remember I am pigeon toed so it is probably more pronounced of a feeling for me.

Do you really use the foot throttle that much? When I'm working my tractors, I usually set the hand throttle and go to work. Not saying that it would not be a comfort problem for you, just bringing up that normally when working a tractor all day, you are not using the foot throttle much.

You are probably right Brian. I considered that. But with this big of an investment why not be comfortable all the time?
It came down to a Kubota cab or a JD open station or a used JD with cab and I went for the cheapest option for me which was the JD with a cab (5525).
