Daylite savings time

Man, Arrow, if that was the only thing I had to get worked up about, I'd be a happy camper.

Seriously, Standard Time cuts down on winter blues by having the sun come up earlier in the winter and Daylight Savings Time extends evening daylight at the time of year when people like to be outside. If it bothers you for a few days, get over yourself. The vast majority of folks in the country benefit from it. We're supposed to all abandon a system that has been working for years because you don't like to adjust your body clock? Come on. Talk about egocentric.

When I refer to DST I am talking about changing clocks, I think that's what most people do, or am I wrong. We recently changed our clocks and I have no idea if I'm on daylight savings time now or standard time now.

I like the time I'm on now. Since it's always dark when I drive in to work, it wouldn't matter to me if it got light at 10 am. I just want it to be light when I'm at home in the evenings.

We are currently on DST and will be until fall when we return to standard time.

There are still only 24 hours in the day. And same amount of daylight no matter.

You point; it has been working... Not working great, nor liked by many.

Don't like it, don't want it. Just because it was pushed on us, as someone else mentioned, by other countries at WWI.

Leave it one way or the other. Arizona does just fine with no time change. And heaven forbid, how did mankind survive without it throughout history till 1914 or so? The "old" system worked just fine...

Man, Arrow, if that was the only thing I had to get worked up about, I'd be a happy camper.

I like DST. I think most people are forgetting what DST is about. It gets lighter earlier in the summer than in the winter, so the time is shifted so that you can have more light toward the end of the day. You can't do DST in winter because it would stay dark for too long in the morning.

I love it when we switch to DST, I hate it when we move back to STD. I wish we would just stay on DST all year and not worry about how dark it is in the morning.

Kind of an unfair attack there jeff. I'm not talking about just me especially since I never had a heart attack brought on by this kind of stress related syndrome. And again, I am not talking about how light it is outside. Pick a time, and stick with it is all I'm saying. I'll ask you the same question. We are not supposed to change something because it adversely effects health related issues? " The "vast majority" liked to smoke in bars as well and besides, unless you've taken a census, how accurate is your statement? Let us all go and get led like lemmings for whatever the government wants to do to us? If you fall into that category, be my guest but people should not have to go down with you. This is more than a few days of inconvenience to others. There are some serious health related issues one of which is people falling asleep at the wheel and killing themselves or another's loved one as a result of their patterns being interrupted. This kind of thing has been documented along with a 6% increase in heart attacks for the week following DST. That is no small number. Step out of your brain for a second so you don't have to lay false claim to others whom you think are "egocentric" before all the facts are known. "Get over myself?" What I cannot seem to ever fathom in this forum, is the wholesale attacks people put on others without knowing a wit about the other person. Like it is perfectly alright to get personal without this knowledge. Not polite, nor respectful of others ideas even though they may differentiate from yours and not very gentlemanly jeff.

Jeff, if it was a few days OK, but for my daughter it's several months at least. This is not an uncommon syndrome. If you don't have it or have not had a loved one who has it, you cannot understand. Imagine you get 4 or 5 hours of sleep every night for months and cannot take naps. Imagine this goes on the rest of your life. Yes we have tried all of the standard treatments and they don't work. If we fly to another time zone that helps. But moving every six months is not very practical.

I come to TBN to have fun and talk about rural property. I'm sorry I ever joined this discussion. Arrow, I am sorry if I offended you, but I have to say I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I would like to see some links to your "documented cases" of death and dismemberment caused by DST.

Sorry, guys. While I wish they would quit changing the dates of the change, I sure hope your movement never gains momentum, because I think DST works just fine. And I'm not saying that out of some blind allegiance to the government. That would be uncharacteristic (you don't know me, either, Arrow).

Its all over the net. look it up yourself. Also. they are not "my" documented cases. I have no problem with you thinking I am making this bigger than it is nor your stating that. Just leave the personal stuff out of it. As with so many other things people think of as small and trivial, looms abit larger when it happens to them, I do not think it would be a "mere statistic" or "mole hill" if it did. And no, I do not know you from Adam, just a small part however.
If you like DST, how would you like it all year long? They tried that in 1973. The complaint being school buses were getting into more accidents with the morning darkness.
Now if it wasn't your kid to get hurt, would it still be ok? As I stated before, personal preference as it infringes on the health and well being of others is fundamentally wrong. They're are many debates as to whether any energy gets saved. If none is, or worse, that is we're actually using more, "I like it" is not a strong enough reason to have it if it is hurting others to do so. This is not an individual freedom infringement like banning fireworks. If you want to use them or blow yourself up for that matter, you should have the right to do so. This is the reverse of that or "everyone shall use fireworks" Mine and others' choice is non existent here. People are being dictated to with no recourse for one must move to the time of the world. Maybe if we gave politicians and everyone else chainsaws they had to work at 5:30 am everyday instead of 6:30 am, DST would be looked upon a bit differently.

Which precisely proves the point of why it is good to change Spring and Fall. DST works well in the summer and Standard Time works well in the winter.
