I think the price is a little high myself. The topper would be a negative for me. Would not want it and you could not give me one. They are so truck specific they are hard to give away plus if you take it off there is usually paint wear on the bed rails so you will have to have that attended too or it will rust.

went and looked at a few this am, then on the way home, passed by a ford dealers lot I had bought a ranger from back in like 99 or so..

there was a beautiful 99 f 450 3 diamond plate tool boxes and a 5th wheel adapter.. 50 gallon aux diesel tank in the bed. has a prodigy controller though it's 7pin is in the bed and I will need to get an extension cable.. I assume an rv shop may have those??

119kmiles.. pristine exterior and interior chrome scoop on the roof.. drives great... has a transfer tech inc gauge on the dash with a rocker switch.. shows the fuel int he rear tank and main tank.. though the # for the main tank looks low unless a f450 had a wimpy 19g tank?.. sows 46g in the rear .. eyeballing thru the fill cap verifies that.

has a pyrometer... I'll need to learn exhaust temps from you guys. at idle.. looks like 300' running down the road 400 or so and up to 600 if you put your foot init etc.

I'll need to know what I need to look for on that.

has an aux trans cooler and temp gague.

I think my wife got more excited about it than i did.

Went and lookd at a 90 today and an 04, and an 01, fords plus an 05 dodge.

the old one was pretty heavilly beat though looked like it was worth the 3500 they were asking for it.. but when my wife say it... she refused to let me buy it.. said she didn't think it'd make the trips out of state like I like to make and would leave me somewhere..

ended up taking the 450 home....

I just finished up the deal in time enough to hit a walmart and grab some floor mats and then head to work...

I really.. REALLY like the truck.

obviously was way more than I was looking for. I don't think I got too hammered on the price, considering the price of 01-04 1 tons I was seeing were in the 13-18k range.

Now I just got to figure out the fuel tank thing and see what tank I'm running on.. plus figure out how to set that prodigy controller.. the p/o was nice enough to leave the instruction booklet in the glove box.

oh yeah.. gotta get a 7 pin extension cable.. I'm guessing someone sells those..

As far as the plug, it sounds like you need something like this made for 5th wheel and gooseneck trailers.

yep.. exactly what I need, as the 7 pin on that truck is up by the 5th wheel.

I just need to extend it down to the bumper area.

Sweet truck Soundguy!

This truck has the 7.3L Powerstroke that was susceptable to issues with the cam position sensor as mentioned by Diamondpilot. Simple part that is easily changed even on the road, but keep a spare in the truck cause it will leave you stranded if it quits on you.
