Hello all, newbe here,

I bought a used 2040 and having a heck of a time finding an operators manual. I have a shop manual but it doesn't have fluid specs or quantities. Also I cant see the numbers on the shift lever case to determine shift pattern. I know it has hi/low lever and gear selector. I also need to know differential lock, PTO engagement, and other such things.

I'm sure I could figure it out but this tractor is down at my property and I'm just trying to keep my mind off of the treasonous acts of our "representatives"

Welcome to TBN. I have your tractors big brother, the 2240. The best place to find info/parts for your tractor is on https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/com.deere.u90.jdparts.view.publicservlets.HomeUnsigned. Manuals can be purchased on that site at this link: John Deere Technical Information Bookstore - Home Page

Just continuing to pass on what has been passed to me. There is a wealth of info on the JDParts website. I have registered with the site and the prices given are the same as my dealer charges. It makes it nice as I know what to expect to pay before I contact the dealer and can adjust my order according to my current budget. I find the online parts manual exceptionally handy! One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes when a part is listed as no longer available, the dealer can often still get it if another dealer elsewhere in the country still has one on their shelf. No longer available just means that the main JD wherehouse no longer carries it.
