I am wondering the same thing. I plan on starting a beehive and will need some protection against critters.

What are you intending to keep out, or in? If the one mention of critters, by 20 20, includes raccoons, well, to modify a line from the movie Jaws, "You're gonna' need a bigger charger."

I'm keeping out deer. The pressure isn't too bad in the area where the fence is, and I'm hoping the bite from it reminds them of the kick-butt charger I have on the other fence!

I plan to use the charger on newly installed fences and replace it with something more robust from Kencove. Like I said, I just need a short term solution.

So, anyone have experience with the Harbor Freight solution????

Are you sure you need the charger?

I put up an 8 foot tall fence around our 25'x50' garden years ago. The deer have not gotten into the garden which surprised me since the deer hang around the house and garden. They eat right up to the house exterior walls and the garden fence but they have not jumped over.

I think I'll have to go with something stronger, my critter problem will be with raccoons and their bigger helpers.......................bears

Deer pressure is pretty bad here, and I can't afford to lose the trees in the fence line. I see the charger as a cheap insurance policy! A neighbor saw a deer testing my other fence a few days ago, and was amazed at how far and fast a deer jumps when it gets a couple thousand volts the nose! (I wish I'd been there to see that.)

The Zareba fence charger is less than 1 joles, should stop deer.

I hate to be the stick in the mud, but I have 4 Zareba solar chargers and the only one that works is the last one I purchased. I've tried changing batteries, but the chargers just don't seem to last.
