Kubota BX25, BX1860
A new 2009 BX1860, turf tires and 54" mower, 0 down and 60 payments of maybe $180/month for 60 months...~$10,800 total.

----OR----

2002 BX1800, 205 hours, used only for suburban mowing, looks like new, with turf tires and 54" mower for $5700 (I can pay cash).

Got a call today from Brady Barlow on the new machine. His price beats my local dealer by $2,000. This machine will be used less than 100 hours per year, for mowing and light towing. I'll leave the grunt work to the BX25.

I guess it really comes down to whether a new machine is worth any extra 5K. The financing is what makes it attractive...or maybe seductive is a better word. It makes things easier in the short term, but it is still $5,000 !!

I guess you never really know what you get with a used machine...then again, it is a Kubota.

OK boys, let's see how persuasive you are on either side of the argument.:)

I say buy the used. For that price you can use it a year or 2 and sell it for what you bought it for.

I concur with Shawn, buy the used and then you'r more than half way there to be in the LB club, he's got 3

200 hours is nothing - my 3 year old B1750 came with 4000 hours and now has 5500.

I say go used and let someone else take the depreciation - unless, of course, a BX expert can tell you a can't-do-without feature of the new machine.

A used BX, with deck, in whatever condition, with 200 hours? $5700?

No brainer. Grab that!!! Forget new.

Gee, buy the used, for that price you can't go wrong and remember no payments! With those little hours that tractor is not even beginning to break in yet.

The seat is way better on the 1860, but its not worth $5000! Get the used, change the seat if needed.

The new tractor might look a little nicer, and has a few nice upgrades, but performance wise, its probably a wash. If it was a less then $2000 difference, I might buy the new, but for the +$5000 difference, I think you could find something else to use your money on.

Buy the used one and avoid spending all that extra money for someone else to enjoy!

While dealing with Barlow would make the new one a best deal. That used one for 1800 is just too good. It should have already had the break in done and so now your good to go for quite a while!
