So here's my latest head scratcher:

A new 2009 BX1860, turf tires and 54" mower, 0 down and payments of maybe $180/month for 60 months...~$10,800 total.

----OR----

The tractor I looked at last week, a 2002 BX1800, turf tires, 60" mower, 1000 hours, VG+ condition (kept indoors) and well maintained for $5,000-if that offer is accepted (down from $6600 original asking price). If I go this route, 5K is the most I'll offer for this machine. I talked with the owner this morning, and I think he might accept.

Are you sure this private seller will do you right and that the tractor is going to check out?

I think now that I'd change and go the other way. Barlows. New vs 1000 hours/// I'd rather put those hours on, besides this way you have a full warrantee!!!

Make the call Monday. ;)

Yeah, I've already seen and driven this used tractor. It's the real deal, I believe, but it does have 1000 hours, so you takes your chances. On the other hand, those Barlow boys really do suck you in with that friendly, but no-nonsense drawl...got to say I'm very impressed that they deliver tractors all the way to California. I think I'm leanin that way...

I had spoken with them last year about trading in my 2230. They offered me a great deal on a new 2360. I just never followed through. :ashamed:

I did get lucky here and a local dealer had a new 2350 (demo with full warranty) on the lot and I did the trade. So it all turned out fine just a year later.
I'm very happy to have a new tractor and full warranty!

You can't go wrong with Brady. I'm only 400 miles away but I bought from him and wouldn't hesitate to do so.

Screw it, the guy is playing games now. When I called back yesterday to go pick it up he told me and that he had just gotten an offer from a buyer who was offering him more money. I said "I thought we had a deal", and he said "well, things have changed".

I think I'm gonna order a new 1860 from Brady Barlow
when he's back in the office Monday morning.

That stinks.
Good luck on the 1860.

Did he give you a price and y'all agreed and then say, "but first money gets it?" If he didn't tell you that upfront, he's broken his word and should be spanked. Literally.

Buy the new one. The broken cradle bearing on my BX1500 at 1400hrs is why. They recommend replacing the hydro.
