Just wanted to see others thoughts on the new health insurance bill. Good or bad. If I want to retire at 62 and draw social security benifits at 65, will I be required to carry health insurance till retirement age, etc. . If so, what are the requirements and what if all insurance companys say you are uninsurable? Any thoughts?

If it was such a good deal why are all members of Congress exempt?
The workers and producers in this country are going to be responsible for footing the bill for health care while the bums get a free ride. To do what Obama proposes isn't possible without a massive tax increase. For a quick education google "value added tax". It's what has crippled the economy in Europe for 20 years and we'll have our own version soon.

It will be years before the full impact is known... many of the provisions are phased in over time.
I know, working at a Hospital... all plans for expansion have been put on hold... medical equipment is expensive and the expense often can't be justified when times are uncertain.
Emergency Rooms are closing all over the county... too many people not paying for service.
The entire industry is in a transition... several years ago... we had to pay sign-on bonuses and offer incentives just to get RN's... now, we receive many unsolicited resumes each week...
I know new grads that still have not found work...

When (if) it all goes into affect the result for some of us will be:
1) Premiums on insurance we already had will go up.
2) Taxes will also go up

Must be region specific. I have four nurses in my immediate family and they could all easily change jobs in this area, and son's girlfriend took a job specifically because it paid her student loans. Local hospitals are building huge additions. Local university and colleges are expanding nursing programs. However it shakes out about who pays, the medical professions will be a growth industry. Death, taxes and needing medical care.....all certainties.

Same here; hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices are being built everywhere and they're not just functional; they have to be luxurious, fancy places.
Not good or bad but way out in left field.
Here in Canada the insurance is public and in the U.S. its private. Canada has the second worst health care in the world as far as high costs go. Guess who is dead last in that regard?
About 25 years ago there was one program on the Spokane, WA public TV channel that actually talked about the real problem. It's been a while but I remember that they said the average doctor's salary in 1963 was three times the national average and by the time of the program it had risen to 15 times the average. It seems to me that they also said this rise in compensation was being driven by the insurance that operated on a cost plus percentage basis. The more they spend the more profit they make.
Here in Canada everybody is insured but the average family pays over half of their income to taxes. It is hard to say what our total taxes are since many of them are hidden in the price. A large part of those taxes is going to pay for ever increasing health care costs.
Some Canadian politicians are talking about fixing the system but most of these "solutions" will just tinker with the insurance a little.
That's kind of like adding brake fluid to fix a flat tire.

Good for you Bird...In our county they had begun grading on a huge site for a new hospital and that is now on indefinite hold.

BAD!!!! For me, my HSA cut in half(amount I can contribute), Can't roll leftover money into retirement account, tax increase, and down the line, waiting to see a doctor. This is the short list.
