Just an opinion but I have used small light disks similar to this in the past and don't think they perform nearly as well as a tiller. I would look into the King Kutter tillers at TSC as many members here speak highly of them.

After alot of looking and contemplating I have decided that with the compact tractors (particularly the higher hp models) that the tillers with their low draft and ability to harness the pto hp yields better results in most cases. I have run my tillers through rock and small boulders, stumps without damage that used to break disk blades.

With a light disk it takes three to four trips to do the same thing one trip with a tiller will do. To me it takes about the same amount of time to do a field, just a different approach.

My Deere 673 tills 7 inches deep in one pass at about 1.5 mph, a small light disk similar to your example would need about 4 passes at 4.5 to 6 mph. Time is the same either way, but less compacting if it matters to you.

The local TSC has a leftover from last year that is $1099 for a 6.5 footer.

Everything attachments has a 6ft 10in disc for a few hundred more plus whatever the uprate in the shipping would be since I am over 1000 miles from them. I just bought a Fred Cain subsoiler from them and they were great to do business with.

Most of the tractor dealers around here stock big ag equipment and not much in the way of utility sized stuff. They'll special order a Rhino or BushHog for list price.

If anyone knows of a good deal in the central Texas area I'd like to hear about it.

They look ok. Have you looked at any others?

Several grey market dealers in Texas. They sell smaller tractors. Might look to them for a disc. See quite a few good pull type disk on the used market. About 1/2 the cost of a 3 point. If you have room and don't plan to transport, could be the way to go.

The Leinbach 300-S-20-20 looks like it would work. I have an email into Leinbach to see where their dealers are.
With the clay soil on my farm I have a feeling scrapers will be pretty useful.
