Plumbing remotes - need help

   / Plumbing remotes - need help #11
It's taking me a while to get my head around it as well, but it's coming clearer now. Reading here has helped a lot. You don't always get everything in one flash of revelation, to me it's more like a piece of the puzzle drops into place one at a time.

The power beyond idea took me a while, once I understood that everything had to be in series it made more sense. I'd never heard the term before I got into tractors.

The variable displacement pump/closed center, fixed displacement pump/open center relationship was another light bulb moment.

I find people confuse open and closed center systems with valves that block flow to a cylinder or motor and those that allow it to move freely when not being supplied with flow.

Thanks for your descriptions Kenny. Yes, I misunderstood the system - it is OC and now I get it. I found some good reference material and educated myself on the system basics. I also called the dealer that set the machine up many moons ago, and whomever I spoke with the first time apparently gave me bad information, which I think caused much of the confusion on my part. It turns out that my 3pt IS enabled with the power beyond, and the hose that I have to unplug/plug is a bypass that closes the loop on the power beyond run. Plugging a jumper into the hoses would do the same thing, as you suggested.

Unfortunately, this means that my 3pt might be broken, since I've never been able to make it move, but the jury is still out for that experiment. However, it also means that I can simply plug a valve set into my existing power beyond run and get the hydraulic remotes for my blower that I want without having to re-plumb anything. So, assuming I can get my 3pt to work, I should be in great shape getting my blower set up put together.

Great news Jay, glad to help. I bet your 3PH is fine...It may just be all the way up now and with no weight on it, it won't drop. Take that BH off and check it out.

if your backhoe is a 3ph model, and you can't get the 3ph to raise or lower while it is attached, that is understandable. my 3ph backhoe (woods 7500) has a diagonal brace that essentially goes from the bottom pins on the backhoe to the top pin on the tractor 3ph. this makes a reinforcing triangle, and you will not be able to raise or lower the hitch because of that. if you didn't have this setup, every time you put the hoe bucket into the ground, it would want to temporarily lift your hoe and 3ph arms with the hydraulics, instead of digging into the ground.

My BH is a subframe mount - I think my Woods 9000 would rip a 3pt right off. As it is, it can throw my L4200 around like a piece of tissue paper if I get a bit hamfisted with the controls (it has gotten ugly a couple of times).

I have no idea where my 3pt control is set - I know I've put it up/down, and bumped it a half-million times. Given that my 3pt is always active, it's no surprise that it's stuck up. I did set the control down and stand on it once, but I might've had the drop-speed control valve closed for all I know. I know quite a bit more about the system now, and I'm hoping to make it up to my place this coming weekend - I plan on spending some time playing around with my tractor, and should be able to find out what the deal is in relatively short order.
