Perfect example of what I did and didn't buy a Refurbished tracter that was on the lot also. For almost Half the price. And after the dealer seen it on here and the paperwork and reciepts we was going over Stated Dang I sold that to you way to Cheap I believe he forgot the 650.00 ROP's that wasn't on there also.

OK looks like I need to say something. For some reason careyo wants to make a point
about UTDA tractors not being worth the extra money, That's his opionion and he has every right to make it. The tractor he bought from me several years ago from me was not
a UTDA tractor OK .But if I remember It wasn't in to good of shape,I may be wrong but seems like he said he had to do alot of work on it, I may be wrong its been a long time ago. I just don't remember.
Now, I was buying Fredricks tractors a long time before UTDA started. Tom had the best product on the market at that time (in my mind) and I still believe that today.
It makes it better if you can get tractors and parts from one source.
I have always tried to sell quality products so I don't have any comebacks.
I don't like problems and do my best not to have any.I don't have anyone mad at me
that I know about.
To me the UTDA tractors are a blessing. I sell them knowing I won't have problems
Yes they cost me more money than the VC tractors, but I have been down that road.
I have found if you sell good stuff at a fair price you will do OK. But if you don't make it you
can say you gave it your best shot.
have a blessed day

quote "If they bought the tractors for $5.00 and sold them for $200 it's OK with me."

Kenmac, that doesn't seem right to me. While I agree business must make profit I think you are talking greed here. Probably not any Yanmar dealers out there thinking this way, at least I hope not. It wouldn't be OK with me if they were.

Well, maybe that's a little extreme but, I was just trying to make a point. They have set their profits where they can sell tractors & still stay in business. Is that better ?? When you find/buy a tractor from a dealer that is going to give you good support & both of you agree on price. Don't worry about what the dealer has invested in the tractor. If you don't think it's a good buy , then don't buy it.. It's that simple

I agree with this. Profit margin is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether the product is within a price range that I am willing to pay.

I would love for a dealer to make 1,000,000% profit and still be able to offer a product to me at a price I consider to be a good deal. I want a dealer to stay in business forever, and the only way that is going to happen is if he is making a healthy profit.

If, on the other hand, he is gouging his customers, or is paying too much for his product and can't make a good enough profit off of it, he won't stay in business long.

Personally I prefer the guys I buy from to stick around so I can continue to buy from them....

The problem is you can EASILY buy a 10 yr old kubota, Massey, or Deere with more horespower and FEL loader for the price of a 30 yr old Yanmar now. I can't swallow the markup.

Good example, recent inquiry on a 2610 2WD with Koyker loader, UTDA cert, etc, $10,200....NEVER in a million years would I pay that, they probably bought the thing for $2500 or less.

Profit and greed as mentioned are two separate things.

Why are some tractor dealers choosing to go with a grey market yanmar to sell vs. selling used US branded machines?

Answer: They can buy them for a few thousand and mark them up ALOT...its not hard to see what's going on. don't get this twisted as me thinking they should sell them at cost, its not what im saying at all.

But the same ones who wish to recondition in the USA try to make it a NEW yanmar = inflated prices will be the same ones that ruin this market in the future when it cost MORE to buy a yanmar them a US brand.

pricing yanmars at the same price point as used US branded machines defeats the whole purpose of why the first dealers started importing yanmars years ago, LOW COST QUALITY TRACTOR, because now they are not deals anymore, your not saving money and the US branded machines will have a higher resale value if you needed to sale, so why buy a yanmar now?

Let me amend what I said earlier. Profit and greed are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether the product is within a price range that I am willing to pay.

Well are you willing to pay the current prices throughout the country on these?
