This kind of Politically Correct crap really pisses me off.

I've been hunting for the link, but somewhere there's a 5-year old boy who's being done for "Sexual Harassment" after grabbing a classmate's bum... or something like that.

I can't remember if it was the UK or the USA... but it's getting silly everywhere.

Then there's stuff like this: Nothing to do with the government, but seriously alarming anyway.

The Reliance upon common sense seems to be dying out, and is being replaced by daft rules. Such a shame.

Being Swedish, I doubt you're aware of the "wussification" of American educators. They're more Political Correctness then education. Kids getting kicked out of school because they drew a picture of a firearm...or used their forefinger (pointd, like a gun) and say "BANG!".

I'm actually amazed to be reading where France and Belguim are considering bannng that head dress called a Burga (bet I spelled that wrong). Never thought either of those countries had the gonads for that.

Oh man.. I'm completely with you there. "He drew an offensive weapon, it was a threat" .... No... he did what all kids do. I'm waiting for the first million-dollar lawsuit for when a 4 year-old boy tries to look up a girl's skirt. And then gets put on the sex-offender's register.

Snowball fights... Kids in one UK school got told that they could throw snowballs IF they asked the permission of the intended victim... and they could only retaliate if they asked permission first. Utterly nuts.

Burka/burqa ... I think that they're only on the edge of managing because that particular form of headgear isn't *required* within the laws of Islam. If I recall, it's a choice than can be made by the individual: Stilll they're on dodgy ground with that one.

I don't see the Iraqi "Police Action" as illegal.
However, I (a Vietnam vet) am totally opposed to sending any troops in harm's way for any reason unless it's a declared war.
If the government doesn't have the guts to declare a war, they have no business send troops out of the country.
Just my humble opinon...

We've had stories air on local TV of local kids potentially being labeled sex offenders for normal kid behavior in school. A Colorado honor student who is in ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) faced expulsion from high school because she had her mock drill rifle (all wood and duct tape) in plain sight in her hatchback car.

As for the Pennsylvania school district spying on kids...they deserve to have their arse's sued off.

... and I suppose this is where we realise we've gone full circle.

We're all horrified that common sense and responsibility are being side-lined in favour of rules and disclaimers that are designed to legally protect, and extra safety features that attempt to make things idiot proof.

Whatever we have, whatever we use, I reckon we can all agree that exercising good common sense and maintaining full situation awareness cannot be substituted.

- Common sense can stop most accidents from happening, but in the case of ignorance, may not be a good enough safeguard.

- An extra guard, or in the OP's case a longer in-feed can prevent most accidents from happening - at the cost of usability.

- a warning label / disclaimer can serve eliminate some of the ignorance, but definitely protects the manufacturer after an accident has occurred.

To get back on topic...and especially about common sense vs. regulations, as you read TBN over the next few weeks, note how many TBNers (supposedly asute tractor owners) operate the tractors with their ROPS folded down or aren't wearing seat belts.
Heck, how about and interlock that prevents the tractor being started unless the seat belt is connected?
Seems like most of us lament the passing of common sense and personal responsibility, but quite a few don't use it when neglecting to hook up their belts.
