Hi,

I just wanted to clear a couple of things up after I stumbled across this post.

My name is Brandon and I was a 50% partner in Tarheel Tractor and I am the owner of New South Tractor. First (and most important to me, at least), the ownership is NOT the same. Second, Tarheel did not go under because of finances, running out of money, or a bad business model. Financial stress WAS an issue (as with all dealers in that market), but more in the way of bringing out the real reason for the split, which was a continued disagreement between partners about decision-making and business philosophy.

Any time equal partners want to split and cannot agree on a buyout, the company has to dissolve. There was no other way for me to go out on my own. The tractor business can be tough at times, but I believe in the product (New Holland, among others) and I believe in the people that have joined me in this new venture, so I thought the financial risk was worth it. If we were not on sturdy financial ground with a solid plan, New Holland would never have approved another dealership.

I can't talk about all the issues for the dissolve for reasons that are personal and legal, but what it comes down to is I want to be able to sleep at night. I'm sure many of you are the same way. So Tarheel is done and for me it is a welcome change-that's part of the reason we named it "New South Tractor"-I was ready for a new start.

So Dave, I hope you do come check us out. We are not yet officially open but we are extremely close. Evidence shows the market turning around, albeit slowly, so I hope and plan to be here for years to come to handle your service needs as well as any others. All I ask is that everyone approach us with an open mind.

Thanks for your attention.

Brandon,

Thanks for your detailed explanation on the history of Tarheel tractor. I remember working with you on several purchases of accessories for my TC34DA that I bouthg new at Tarheel. I look forward to doing business with a personal touch that I enjoyed before. You might tell us where you are located and if of any of the Conover gang will be back.

I dunno about that. I sold my Kubota, to get a larger tractor. In the used market, I wound up with a nice New Holland. It is up to par with what I have seen from Kubota.

All the dealers are hurting. Sales are down across the board; they all are hurting.

I have a Massey dealer 5 minutes away; I bought my used/consignment New Holland there. Otherwise, ALL the dealers are 45 minutes away or more.

Here's a scarry one.

In my area, MF is the best deal per hp, with CNH right on it's heel. I mena.. not much difference.. not enough to make a difference in $$. from there, orange and green are the expensive ones.

orange dealer just went OOB.. green dealer just expanded. Blue dealer is holding it's own, and the poor red dealer is all but dried up.. he's down to like 3 people.. the owner / sales guy, a mechanic, and a telephone answerer... he sells mf, and chinese, and was doing farmtrac and cub cadet...

i'm amazed that in hard times, the guy with the lowest price is actually the one that's near OOB... ( kubota guy priced himself OOB... must have thought they used powdered gold to make the orange paint.. much like the greene dealer does :) )

Dave,

We are right on HWY70 about a mile from the CAT dealership on the right if you are headed from Hickory towards Conover. The address is 985 HWY70W, Newton, NC 28658, but oddly a rep entered that in his GPS and it took him to Tractor Supply, which is about 3 miles away. Anyway, we are right across from Udderly Delicious Ice Cream and Trading Post. The fairgrounds are right down the road. Very close to the Conover location, only visible this time:)

Jon, Jason, and Gela have returned from Conover and I used to work with Jeff in sales previously and he has joined us. I feel really good about the chemistry and ability of this group, although we are all scrambling a bit to get caught up on the last year of model/pricing changes, etc. we missed. As much as I like New Holland they have changed model numbers a dozen times in the last few years it seems like they are doing it to mess with us haha...

Right now we are just waiting on all our inventory to come in since it's supposed to be in transit. I'll post something when I feel like we are at a point we can actually help a customer, which will HOPEFULLY be in about a week. And thanks for your reply.

Brandon,

I know all of the previous employees you mentioned, have dealt with them many times as I bought a lot of attachments for my TC34DA. We will be seeing you soon.

Well doggone them people. How can they do that? I mean after all they have no right to go out of business, especially when there is one person out there who has a New Holland tractor. Especially one that needs warrenty work done after a year of use.

Silly them, imagine filing for bankruptcy or closing, in this day and age. They should have known that someone out there needed warranty work, and told all of their creditors they were just going to have to wait for their money, because one person might need warranty work. Their employees are a bunch of greedy people as well....think of it they go to work and expect to be paid....when there is one person out there that may need warranty work. Can't trust anyone now days....especially employees who expect to be paid. :D:D:D

Boy.... Are you a class act. Sensitive to everyones needs.

I hate to diasgree, but we all knew that dealers like Tarheel sold for prices so low that they couldn't keep it up. There business model hurt other legit dealers. One of the reasons I've always advocated buying from your local fair priced dealer was so that they would be around when you need them. That being said, I 'm sorry for you troubles, but 40 miles isn't very far.

Andy

Good one Andy, I was ALMOST ripped off by a so called REP> FAIR PRICE dealer for the sum of 18 thousand dollars and Tarheel tractor was my Godsend. Sorry they went down. I live in Northern Maine and the ONLY dealer left is a @@@@@@@@@@ I mentioned I would gladly pay a couple of thousand more to buy my new tractor from them after waiting 6 months for a Wobbly Boomer model that I first bought for 31 thousand. Still could not make it right. No way, Boomers wobble but they still tip over!! Still tried to rip me for a TN-60 that goes straight and true down the road in high gear.
I just priced a set of rear wheel weights for my TN-60 and they wanted 268 dollars for ONE wheel. For a 50 LB weight. I think 40 miles away from a GOOD dealer is just FAB! For now I will just use my one bottom 3-point hitch plow for the weight I need. Boomers are for Yuppie farmers that never go far. Why do you think they have been discontinued??

I will always support you, I am very happy with my purchase and wish you the best of luck! Please inform me as to when I may buy more from your company. I bought a 2008 TN-60-A and was very satisfied. Thanks. Mike F.
