Mtnview, that makes sense. You don't think things would spill out the top of the box the same way though?

Charles, they would, sort of. But it's going to take one heck of a machine to have spoils falling over a 24" tall blade vs like they do over a 6" blade. A box blade curls the material forward and tries to contain it, while the road grader type blades cut and lift the material up and over the cutting edge to the rear trying to spill over and spread out.

Because of their different designs, typically a box blade seems like it stops cutting once it is over filled and just rides across the top of the ground not really gaining any more material. The grader blade continually cuts material, does not really load up and stop cutting. This has been my experience anyway, and of course ground conditions, moisture content etc. can make a big difference on how implements perform. ;)

Brian,

RG Manufacturing (the mfr of Road Boss) mentioned that the dealer in Texas has been quite ill.

I contacted RGM directly and they put me in touch with the dealer that delivered mine (same process, they deliver and you try it before you buy it.)

RFB

I am sad to hear this. He is a nice man and very knowledgeable person. I talked with him a couple of times at the Tulare World Ag Expo. He is the one that was able to tell me that I had Road Master grader blades, an out of business manufacturer that made the closest grader blade to his that there was.

Nice work on the landlplane good looking welds too. Curious how is the blade set in relationship to the bottom of the skids?

Well, if you mean the working depth; I made it adjustable :). That way I can use the cutting edges max. This picture should help...

Very nicely done... replaceable cutting edge, too. :)

Yes, reversible and replaceable cutting edges. They are made of Hardox 500 so they should be extra durable...I hope...
