I have the Bobtach on my 230 and I just ordered some 3/8 hooks from AW Direct to weld on. I read somewhere, maybe in this forum or maybe in the customization forum where someone welded the hooks on the bobtach on the loader. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea so I think I will do that instead of welding them on my bucket.

I just wondered how thick the metal was on the bobtach or if I need to reinforce it with 1/4" or thicker. Any thoughts?

I was going to weld some hooks onto my bucket, but before I got to it, I needed a way to hook a chain to my bucket to lift an old trailer that I was scrapping.
I got to rummaging around in the barn and found a construction shackle, and it fit the brackets that are existing on my bucket ( im not sure why they are there, and havent noticed them on any of the pics I have seen on here) but that shackle worked great, and I have left it there. Hasnt seemed to bounced or even scratched the paint so far.
I think I will forgo the hooks unless I find I need them down the road

That might have been me.

I did use a reinforcement plate. The Bobtach carcass seems robust, but
the 1/4" plate I used will avoid problems. I really like how it works: I can
lift much more weight with the bkt off. I prefer slotted 1/2" steel to
hooks as they allow easy detachment (roll back and the chain drops off).

Yes, I think it was. I remember seeing your pic now. I thought it might be the safe bet to add some additional metal but I just hate to spend the money to buy it. Most of the stuff I have used in the past is scrap that I have found somewhere but I have yet to find anything as thick as 1/4 plate.

I bought the same hooks as you got. I welded them onto 1/4" plate about 4" x 3" and then bolted them on with (4) 5/16 bolts each. I have the standard bucket which is 11 gauge (.1196") thick. I thought that was a little thin to be welding directly to. The hooks are mounted forward as possible, the nuts on the underside are right up aginst the rolled edge.

I use mine almost every time I've got the tractor out.

Arch, here is the pics of my shackle and bucket.
It is attched to brackets that I have on both sides of my bucket.
I do not see these any on anyone elses bucket in pics I have seen posted on here, Im not sure if I got a bastard bucket or if it was built for putting a grapple on it

No bastard bucket. I have that one too. The pin on bucket is totally different. I think our bucket is a skidsteer bucket.
