My apologies, but when we decide upon the best grease to you based upon whether it's red, green, or black, I just have to shake my head and walk away.

It's bad enough, we use colors to buy tractors- but grease? Give me a break!

You need to get yourself some of that striped grease. It looks like Aquafresh coming out of the gun.... :D

Oh heck I didn't even think about that. I used plain ol' grease-colored grease on my new toy, shoulda used orange. Now I've wrecked the darn thing I'm sure, and with only 4 hours on it. :ashamed:

We use Mystik JT-6 red high temp grease on our offshore drilling rig. Test results have always came back good. We use it on all our equipment whether it is high temperature present or not. Test results are from Analysis Inc. in Houston Texas. I also use it on everything at home. Tractors, lawn momers, etc,etc,etc.............Just my input....

OK forget the color. The key thing for a "one grease does it all" is compatibility. I never know exactly what grease is in my items when purchased and the last thing I want is two incompatible greases making a hard mess with no lubrication.

I use the green grease (that is a brand not just color) that amigauser mentioned. That grease is marketed as being compatible with all other grease. I use a tube a year so $7 a tube is fine.

I use Greengrease which is available at Advance Auto Parts.

I use it on everything with a grease zerk.

that is what I am using as well - and here is where i need advise..

BUT - I greased my MMM until i saw the grease ooze out the spindles on the blade side (the blades were off) of the deck.. I mowed about 6 times (approx 5.5 to 6 hrs) and when had the blades off yesterday it took between 15 and 20 pumps (standard size grease gun) for the grease to come out the spindles again.. That seems pretty empty to me..

Any thoughts on this? I am wondering if the I need to switch to a different/heavier grease so it stays in the spindles better.. Suggestions for brands welcome (walmart, autozone, advance auto, tractor supply are who i have nearby)

thoughts..

Greasing a rolling element bearing til the grease comes out the seals is too much. I find that about 4 pumps for 4 hrs mowing keeps my spindles wet. My mmm is 10 yrs old - no problems.

Not being a technical person - why is it too much?

Is the over-filling why the grease is not staying in the bearing?

thanks
