We still keep in touch and I droped off her mail to her yesterday. It's sad that she's not the person I married anymore. We're civil and have become more friendly towards each other. I was the one who was being rude and mean towards her, so it's me who's calmed down quite a bit. The counseling really helped, but so has time and keeping busy.

I know it's just a process and while I can't see any end to it right now, I know that today is better then yesterday, and tomorrow looks even better.

Eddie

Eddie, just found out about your situation and hope things are improving. You've gotten lots of sound advise and it sounds like counseling has had some positive impact. My only advise, is to do whatever is humanly possible to keep the kids well being the focus of your current "relationship" with Stephanie. My ex and I committed to that 14 years ago and have done a decent job cooperating and supporting each other in raising the kids. I know it is not possible in everyones situation but it was a priority for me and its been working. Good luck!

I had to look up when I wrote that because things have changed allot since then. Without going into details of why, I no longer speak to Steph any more. I no longer have any idea of how they are doing, or the kids. I told her that I didn't hate her, but that I wasnt going to allow her to hurt me anymore. Since then, she hasn't been able to cause me any more pain because I don't have a clue what she's up to. I'm sad for her kids and what I feel was a good life that they had before, but I had to think of myself, and get on with my life.

Time is a great healer. Friends that care about you also help.

I was thinking the other day about how few people are good craftsmen these days, but then fewer still are guys like you who are able to take it to the next level and make their work look distinctive. I'd have never thought of using those ballisters for a stairway, for example, but they look great and they are so different from your average boring stairway.

I do think you can do better than the red valance on your kitchen window and the green paint above your cabinets. For some reason, those colors just don't seem to go with the tile and backsplash.

I agree. I took the red valance down and then put it back up. I don't care for the color, and I'm not sure about they style, but I do need something up there. For now, it doesn't bother me, but it is something that I want to change. Color is where I struggle, and for now, I don't know what should be there.

What is this?!? TractorByNet or Better Homes and Gardens??

Besides, ladies, if you want to be FAA-bu-luuus with colors, you have to go to a craft store and get a color wheel!;)(Color Wheel, Color Circle, & Color Relationships)

In all seriousness, its great to see your progress after life's little curveball. You hate to see it happen to anyone, but even from someone that's relatively new on TBN, its easy to see you're a decent guy. The kind of guy you'd like to have as a neighbor and share an adult beverage with.

Some will disagree, but I think that's one of the healthiest places you can be after what you've been through. My brother went through much the same as you in a divorce a while back after 17 years of marriage. He went through a lot of extra hurt until he was able to say what you just said. He does of course maintain an absolute minimum of contact regarding their shared custody of my niece and nephew, but other than that...he's much better off now that he's put some emotional distance between himself and the ex.

Best regards,

Lost

I was thinking Fine Homebuilding. The work looks as good as any I've seen there.

I went to court yesterday and the judge granted my divorce. Looking back, it kind of makes sense to have it take so long because everything's been worked out and I've moved on with my life. I feel a lot of disapointment and loss over the break up and what she did, but no real anger anymore. We don't talk or keep in touch and I sometimes wonder about hte kids, but I realize that they are no longer a part of my life anymore either. There's just no way to make that work, and in every scenerio, it just comes out bad in the end for them anyway.

I've been dating and meeting quite a few women. The dating world is crazy. I've discovered texting and facebook at extremely important when getting to know somebody. Text is how most of the single girls out there like to communicate, and facebook is where you find out if they are drunks, smokers and have anger issues. If it's not on their site, it's on their friends site.

For the last month, I've been seeing a girl that has really impressed me. She's an RN that recently moved down here from Michigan who is in charge of Nurses Retention at the hospital. She's extremly successful, smart, ambitious and is a very talented artist. We've never watched TV together, but instead, spend our evenings talking and doing things.

Work has been going great. I'm struggling with getting all the jobs done and clients waiting on me to get to them. One of my biggest fears when Steph moved out was not being able to pay the bills. With her gone, I have more cash and less stress. I didn't see it at the time, but she was becomeing a drain on me and slowly dragging me down. Sadly, everything I did just led to her needing more and me trying harder to make her happy without succeeding.

The land is looking good. We're making realy good progress on it this year and the long term sites are getting very close to being cleared. There is some really nasty jungle that I've been trying to open up and clear for the sewage line that is giving me issues because of the rains, but it's getting there. The big delay is dealing with the mud and getting the trees to the burn pile. I have two piles going right now, so it's one or the other depending on the amount of mud we have to deal with.

My parents are here and doing great. While I'm out working for clients, they keep the fires going and help out around the house. They needed to stay in the house while some repairs were done on their RV, so I bought a new bed for one of the bedrooms, got some night stands and lights for them, and then Mom painted the room and made it all nice again. For the first time in my life, I have a spare bedroom. LOL

Now I'm going to start looking for a new truck. I've wanted one for awhile now, but bought Steph a new car last year and wanted to pay that off before buying myself a truck. She took over that loan and I've just been waiting for the divorce to be final before wanting to take on any debt. There was some fear on my part that the divorce wouldn't happen, or that something would come up. She was good about it and there wasn't any issues. So now the hunt for a new truck begins.

Thank you to everyone for all your support. At first, I was very down. Depressed and very unsure of myself. It was a complete surprise to me, and I'm sure that I didn't deal with it as good as I should have. I don't have any regrets, but realize that I could have behaved better too. It's one of those things that I'm not proud of and with had never happened, but thanks to all of your emails, I was able to move forward and worth through all the confusion and fear.

Again, Thank you.

Eddie

Eddie
thanks for keeping us up to date. It is inspiring to see how you have come through this. We all know how hurt you were, it seems so long ago now. There is always another day, and a better way. Best of luck with the new lady.
