I've noticed the same thing while searching for a quad, 1 year old $8000 machines advertised for $2500...in multiple cities.

I was just looking at Craig's List...and came across this...If only true ! The tell is the fact he did not give a phone number...and the price of course..What do you guys think...?

I didn't see the ad, so I have no idea if it was a scam or not.

I wouldn't be too suspicious about no phone number or a generic e-mail address....I'm sure not going to post my home phone or cell number on Craigslist! Not my personal e-mail, either.

However, if the seller goes into how the tractor is out of state, etc, etc..then I know it's shifty.
I had responded to a CL add about a Deere (3320, IIRC) in whch was supposed to be in Westminster, MD...about an hour's drive. Their e-mail went into the "shipping", my response was I'll drive down and pick it up. No more responses, as expected.

I agree..I am the Original Poster, and I have a @gmail account myself and I sure don't place scam ads ...I don't know why he singled out gmail....what about Yahoo or MSN or all the others...LOL

Ok, let me clarify what I was trying to say. The combination of an ad that looks to good to be true, and a gmail account is often what I have seen with scam ads. Was NOT trying to paint ALL gmail users with a broad brush and accuse them of being scammers. Please accept my apology if taken that way!

LOL - I'll get over it....I think I know you meant any generic email account...but I have posted on Craig's list when I wanted to buy a trailer and I never used my real email account I did use my gmail account...but it could have just as well been a Yahoo or MSN or some other generic account...I know what you mean...

I have seen many ads like this on Craig's List. Usually priced about $4-9K. All scams. I have contact a few asking where I can view the equipment. They all respond without a direct answer to that question, or say it's at the shipper or other nonsense, sometimes with an E-Bay Guaranteed Auto Buyers program which will be bogus. I have seen the same ad posted by different people with identical photos in different cities. This is so commonplace its almost laughable.
Only a fool would bite.

If they provide an email address, you can paste that into Google and search on that as well. Usually it will pop up some more ad's, just like searching on the title of the ad will too.

Before I realize it was a scam I tried that and thought it was odd the same CL listing for the tractor in Indiana was also listed Los Angeles. Being naive in the ways of Craigs List I just assumed the guy made a mistake. :ashamed:

That same tractor was for sale in Oregon too.....

Bummer ! Life just isn't fair...When I first started on TBN I got spanked for posting a Joke..go figure..
