hump, this has been incredible. Wow, what a good job of showing the clearances.

OK, now these two photos. The one shows the front tire turned out and there looks to be a huge amount of clearance. Great.

The second photo, though, looks totally different. The tire is now turned in and boy!!! does that ever look close. What do you think? Sometimes the photos make things look farther or closer, i get that.

But now, to your own eye. On that photo in question. How close is that tire to the front of the deck, would you say. It looks to be within 1" of rubbing. Is that right, or is that just the photo illusion? Is it really as close as it appears? A million thanks.

BP,
did you want any pictures of a 54" deck on a 1850?

Hey Roy! Yessir. Absolutely. My research is about clearance issues. Front and back, maximum/minimum, wheels turned in, turned out. Thanks, very appreciative. Camera angles are deceptive, so real life, eyes on is also important.

If the rain hold off long enough tonight I will take some pictures other wise may be a day or so before the rain passes.

You want pictures with the deck raised on at mowing height? I also have the bars tires which may or may not have any effect on clearance.

If I am feeling real ambitious I may even try jacking up the front a little to see if axle tilt causes the clearance to change. I.e. Largest diameter of the front wheels at the same height as the lip on the deck.

there's about 2 inches there

These pictures are all with deck on the stop set for 3 inches. I am not a photographer so some of these may not be the best.

These pictures are with the FEL holding the front of the tractor off the ground so I could try and simulate one of the front wheels dropping in a hole.

Going straight there is lots of room between the deck and the left front wheel. I would not recommend mowing with chains on...

Thanks hump and oldnslo

Apparently, as I might has suspected, the clearances on the 54" seem to be tighter than on the 48", even taking tire type into account.

Calls for an opinion here, I know, but based on what you see, does it seem that way to you both as well?

there seems to be quite a difference between the decks. Much more on the 48". Glad to help BP.
