I don't know anything about hydraulics (other than how to spell it), so please bear with me...

I posted earlier about adding remotes to my L4200 for a snowblower. The blower and my backhoe seem to have the same fittings - male ends look to be about an inch in diameter. My FEL hoses use smaller diameter fittings (maybe 3/4" dia). I'm guessing that these are the 'most common' fittings - how do I determine what kind and size the fittings are - shape, dimensions, etc?

I want to add 2 remotes for my chute swing and flapper (whatever that is called) controls. It looks like I can just plug into the power-beyond that is currently running my backhoe. A dual lever system would work, but I think a joystick would be even better. At any rate, each control would have to go back and forth, have a relief valve, no float. What type of valve(s) do I need?

Lastly, is it a good idea to get valves with power-beyond capability, or do they all have that?

Thanks - JayC

Three most common fittings are NPT, JIC, and ORB (also refereed to as SAE). A good size chart with basic descriptions is HERE.

You want basically this: "Open Center, 4-way, 3-position, spring return to center.

Good Joystick valves: 9-7677 or 9-7401 They include adjustable PRV's (pressure relief valves) and are PB (power beyond) capable-no, not all valves are.

Basic 2 spool valves: 9-7862 or 9-7693 Are two basic examples, there are Lots of choices when it comes to valves.

Lastly, is it a good idea to get valves with power-beyond capability, or do they all have that?

Yes-you want PB (I thought we covered that well in the other thread?)

No, all valves do not have PB capability.

'Kay - thanks for the links. The fitting size chart was all greek to me - no clue what any of that means and still no clue what each is supposed to look like. The fittings I was referring to on my blower and backhoe were the quick-connect ones. My dilemma - the charts all show a couple hundred fitting options, yet everything I see uses the exact same shaped fitting with all of 2 different diameters, but I have no idea what kind it is. I need something with pictures, I guess.
