Tractor Supply Trans/Hydraulic Fluid- JD 450C Dozer??

daman1 there seems to be a lot of confusion (perhaps by design) on most fluids.

I know Traveller's Premium UTF states Meets OEM specs so maybe it is made by Shell as on was told. Warren may even make some of Shells products as far as I know. :D

The older thread on this subject is http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/oil-fuel-lubricants/134738-tsc-travellers-hydraulic-fluid.html
Yes there does most think oil is oil grease is grease but that's farthest from the truth.

no if you look at the pale of Trav prem UTF it states "recommended for" not "meets spec" and the renew states "meets specification" like i stated in my above post, there is a difference because the specs differ slightly, weather it's additives or level of friction modifiers for wet break applications or a GL rating for rear end use, they'll both work but one will be better then the other if you want to get technical.

no WPP,warren performace products dont make any of shells (SOPUS)Shell Oil Products U.S. lubracants

i agree bp fick, just wanted to let the OP know since he did ask. ;)

daman1 you posted a false statement about Traveller Premium Trans/Hydraulic Fluid not "MEETING" OEM specs based on what my 2 and 5 gallon containers states purchased in April of 2010.

daman1 you are not being of a service to TBN readers when you do things like this.

While I do not know your reason for you coming onto TBN and posting non factual statements to refute factual statements I do ask that you to stop doing it.

Before I initially posted that the Travellers Premium states "Meets OEM specs for those listed below" I went out and pulled the back label from a 2 gallon container and stuck it to my computer. After your last post I went and read the label on the 5 gallon containers that stated "Meets" as well.

Don't have a dog in this fight, but I got this jug a couple weeks ago, and as you can see, clearly says meets, not just recommended for. Different products or different labels, I do not know. Reckon you guys ought call this a draw.

When was your jug bought? mine here was purchased 3 weeks ago and all that my TSC has in stock, that could be the new renew UTF oil and they just combined the labels to read as your jug now and going away with the old.

at my TSC The UTF in my pic is $30 a 5 gal pail

the new "Renew" oil that looks like yours but states "Renew" on the label is $43 a 5 gal pail.

so people just need to research there own TSC see what they have.

OK, just got in from bushhogging. A tractor with lights makes for long days. :D

bp fick thanks for posting this photo. It is the label I have.

daman1 clearly TSC is pushing more than one package of their Premium UTF. It is almost cut off in your photo but I can make out the word Premium.

Clearly you are correct and I am correct based on our labels. Clearly I was wrong to state you posted false info because it was no more false than what I posted based on your label. For that I am very sorry.

Assuming TSC sold the same product with the same label country wide was mine mistake.

Now I am interested if they are from different sources and are of a different quality. Clearly "meets" cares more legal punch than "recommends".

I notice you and bp fick are from MI (I think that is correct). TSC just moved to Murray, KY a couple months ago so the stock should be fresh.

Maybe Shell being the source story is correct and Warren being the provider is also correct.

If everyone will check this out that go into TSC stores we can get the true picture.

Again daman1 I am sorry I questioned your intent. We will find out why the two different labels for the "same" fluid.

Numbers off the "MEETS" label like posted by bp fick but from my labels.

The 5 gallon bar code reads 4939480639
The vertical number at the end of the bar code is 0806391 which seems to part of the bar code number with a 1 added at the end.

At the right bottom corner there is some kind of dot codes with the number 41394000 or it could end with a 1 instead of 0. This same code is on the front and rear labels and the same except for the noted last digit.

Now the 2 gallon bar code is 4939480638 and the vertical number is 0806383
The lower right corner number from the rear label is 41393973

It is late so I may have messed up a number.

Thoughts: If the bar codes are different between the MEETS label (mostly black) and the RECOMMENDS label (mostly orange?) then we are looking at different sources/products because of the different SKU.

Before I leave town tomorrow I will try to pend down this with the manager at the Murray store.

If I had a camera I would post a photo.

daman1 would you please post a picture of the other side of that bucket photo in post 20?

It is funny you seem to be the only one on the internet that thinks Recommends and not MEETS is on the the Traveller Premium Univeral Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid label.

I have two tractors to change out and the fluid purchased for the first one and filters for both. This discussion is not an internet game for me.

The JD BH forward reverser is very slow to engage when hot but works find when cold (meets factory tests). Reverse is fine hot and cold. I want to use a fluid that meets the JD specs. I have to do back to back changes since it is milky so that is 20 gallons.

The picture of the other side of the can may clear up a lot of questions. The next time i go through Nashville I will try to get a meeting with their VP of Marketing or ask a factory rep to meet with me when visiting the Murray store to help explain your posts on different tractor sites.
