I was wondering is an L2800 is too big/heavy to use to cut a yard with. If you used a finish mower on an L2800 would it tear up the yard? Would it matter what kind of tires are on the tractor? Which tires would be best?

Thanks!
Jeremy

I am looking at a 4wd if that matters at all.

Thanks!

I think it would depend on the yard. Are there very many obstacles? Are there wet or soft spots? If it is big, wide open, and dry, sure you can. I certainly wouldn't recommend ag tires or putting it in 4 WD. The L2800 is a dang heavy lawnmower. Actually turf tires may be right choice. Good luck!

Well, I have to admit on a few occasions when I had my cabbed CX80 and 8' finish mower up here doing other stuff, I have used it to mow my yard, but my preference is for something lighter and more maneuverable than than an L2800.

I use a 1720 NH with a 6' RFM on my yard with AG tires. The tractor has a shipping weight of 2800# but has loaded tires so I calculate that the tractor weighs in around 3300#. With that said, the tractor and mower is not too heavy for my yard. I don't mow with the 4WD in and try not to make too sharp turns.

As far as tires are concerned, if you are just going to mow with the unit I would get turf tires. Most people use industrial tires as a compromise and would be easier on your turf than AG due to the wider footprint.

With all that said, you will be fine with the L2800. Just make sure that you don't have too many trees or other obstacles in the yard that wouls slow you down.

If you don't need to engage 4wd to mowe also take wide turns shall help the turf.

Will you have fel attach when mowing?

Hi. I,m mowing with my Massey 1643, industrial tires, it weight +- 4400 pounds. When mowing I take off the loader. Always use the 2wd because on 4wd on sharp turns, the front tires are damaging the turf (try to avoid sharp turns even on 2wd and on dry land it is safer for your turf). If your only use is mowing, turf tires would be a good choice. Good luck:thumbsup:

I think it's really going to depend on your particular situation. My grass grows for nearly 8 months a year. At the start of the year and again at the end, my B series with R1s will rut up the yard due to ground conditions. We are in a drought right now so everything is hard like a rock!
