I have a feeling there may be some phase adjustment built in if it is a very high quality head.

Look at todays ac line conditioners made by APC. I use them. they not only regulate ac line voltage ( raise or lower anywhere from 90v to 300v ).. but can correct small frequency issues. the technology is readilly available.. just you have to pay for it. an apc line conditioner costs more than a ups.

Having studied electronics from my current understanding the smoke put in them at the factoryh makes them work until you let it out. :D

Soundguy makes a good point about the APC brand of power filter. They are relative cheap and do a good job. I was forced to learn alot about our nearly 20 year old Kohler when I put in an over value fuse and let the smoke out of the main circuit board.

While I was digging through the manual and internet I learned about the voltage and Hz adjusting pots used in its design.

With time and money most anything can be designed. The older and cheaper a generator I expect the less power conditioning it will offer.

mount the pto gen to something like a pallate fork or carryall, then it will be easy to hitch to the tractor... could even use onne of those easy hitches.. just back up, and lift and click.. then attach pto shaft.

But what if we are dead. Do we leave the family in the dark because we only care about them if we are alive? Of course not.

As you can see I have been giving this some thought for my family. I can teach my kids the poor man's hacks but I am not sure the wife would want to. Last year at the home, garden and lawn show I talked to a couple local electrical service provides who put in automated home generator systems.

While I do not want to spend the money on it at this time since I do not "plan" to die what I have decide that would be ideal is to go with a good vendor that should be around for years to come and get them to put in some name brand like Kohler who should be around for years to come.

That way if I was to check out then the wife/kids could call on this company to check out the system and show them how to check oil, etc and monitor the scheduled auto starts and to call for help if needed.

With the recent death of my FIL it became clear we do not think in terms of being dead in our planning but death needs to be on our minds as we do and plan things. Last month a man who had a company put in his auto back up generator in at his home dropped dead at the age of 57. Now she does not have to worry about loosing power because the guy was not involved in "making" it work.

.

Um.. I think this is going a lil deeper than using a generator...

it don't really mater what genny is used as long as the people using it know how to use it....

I agree with that Soundguy.

In trying to build a company that hopefully will be just fine without on going input from me I am learning the systems that I put in place need to be easy for others to understand so they can master them and continue to use them.

Loosing a good customer who I had known for years and another friend who has a business in town plus he played a key roll in promoting Boy Scouts local just last month only days apart got me to wondering what would the wife and kids do with the machinery that I am dragging in and fixing up.

While I am committed to live until I die I have however starting asking myself what can I do to make sure the things that I am do going forward makes sense and that is also meaningful for the family who would have to carry on without me.

At work I am finding the more simple the concept and steps of action required to do act on the concept the more repeatable the management team finds it. The two friends that I lost last month did not have one conversation with their family because they both passed instantly and their family was not even around.

It is great if we have taught our family how to implement our gear we have put in place like generators and all. A frank conversation with them will help us understand if what is important to us is as important to them.

The sellers of long term nursing care insurance tell us we may live a long time without our current ability and skill sets.

After we start loosing our friends who are younger than we are and see their bones picked over at an auction from time to time it can make sense not to have 20 unfinished projects going at the same time.:)

For me it is hard to 都top adding new projects before I finish those already in progress. I notice at estate auctions 菟rojects at mid point often never bring as much money to the estate as had be spent on the project to that point.

Even worse than the lost of money in my view is when the wife/kids 吐eel I they have to keep the guy痴 projects going to kind of keep him alive and they stop living their lives to keep our ideas/dreams alive.

Those who we will be leaving behind need the freedom to do what is best for them. If we can talk about these things while we are alive and 殿ble to make adjustments that are still just fine with us that would help them carry on without us then that is a win win.

Home back up generation systems can fall into this category is all I am saying. Just listing all of our toys and stuff and what we paid for them at purchase and have spent on them since and a minimum value at the date the list is created would help them because a judge is going to ask for that list I learned last year in probate court. Over the years I have collected stuff the wife and kids really know nothing about what it is for or what it is worth.

Death we often try to act like is never coming but in thinking of our families we do need to factor in how to make our death less stressful beyond just life insurance. Now the guy who has everything in CD痴 and rents makes it simple for the estate however when many of us look around we will see if we were to check out this minute our 都tuff would create some family stress over what to do with it.

I have no plans to die without my tools and toys but I can stop buying new projects like the wagon I bought yesterday that I saw when I was 125 miles from home and towed it home. While it is functional because I towed it home at interstate speeds and no bearing even got warm I will leave it as before I start an off frame restore because it is very saleable as is. I can address it after some of the other projects are put back into saleable items if I am still around.:D

I know I'm not going to be here forever ( hopfuelly not leaving for quite a while either! ).. but I think about that stuff. i keep a file on each of my machines. in it I put starting instructions, features, options, purchase price, price it cost to refurb, sugested sale offer/take price, in case my wife should ever have to sell them off without me.. etc.

tales a while to make all them notes.. but could help. good info for the prospective buyers as well.. they will have a head up on al the work done, and any quirks the machine may have.

That is awesome. Should it be needed it will be greatly appreciated. One car collecter locally sold off I guess a $1,000,000 of his inventory a few years ago in a high profile auction. When he was asked why he said the kids did not know what they were and the value the way he did. He still has a ton left.

I dropped in at my local HF a couple of days ago.
They don't stock it, not a sufficiently rural area I guess (-:
They looked it up and it showed with all the codes to say they don't have it locally, don't stock it and can't order it.
I got home that night and haven't been able to find it on their web site since.
I searched by 65309, as well as everything I could think of, "PTO", "generator", "generater, etc. but the number comes up not found and the keywords don't get it.

So, it looks like it is either discontinued or they are between suppliers ?

NOTE: That was in May.
I just got a HF flyer and the 16Kw unit is shown again as #65309 for $1299.99
Also noted as an overweight item, so I don't know WHAT it would cost to get one to Massachusetts and pay 6.25% sales tax, etc.
