I've never eaten breakfast at Brown's, but I've lost count of the times we've gone to visit my wife's family in West Virginia and when we do, we leave to come home early one morning, so we can spend the night in one of the motels near Brown's and eat supper there.:laughing: The last time was May 21 of last year.

Next time you're through that way, try the barbecue at Sweet Peas, looks like a hole in the wall, but good food.

Haven't tried Golden Corral yet...but I know there's one locally (with 25-30 miles). Based upon y'all's recommendations, we'll give it a try.
I'm a sucker for Cracker Barrel though...great breakfasts and one of the few places that make good hash brown potatoes.

One down here in Frederick. I hear ya on Cracker Barrel, they are consistent where ever you go.

We have a wood fired grill in town... I think they add MSG to everything. Ate there once and will never go back. There was a cataferia, can't remeber the name, in TN that was GREAT... Always looked for the name traveling I-40. Felt sorry for the cashier. Best damb food. Paid for what you got.

I like that wood fired grill you got down there, if you're talking about the one across the street from Sheets, near costco.

We eat at Golden Corral most Sundays after church. Kind of got tired of it at times, but after a couple of months vacation we go back and its just fine. I like Saturday morning breakfast buffet too.

You guy's ever heard of ( Poor Folks restaurant )? they used to be all over the south, very good home cook meals, I think about 6-7 years ago they started having problems and re-grouped and re-opened in a new name called
( Folks with southern.......) something or another I eat there when it changed but they had cut back on serving size of everything and took lot of good food off their menu, Now I'm not even sure if even in business at all?
I think the larger chain restaurants Applebe's .. Chilli's .. and a lot of the Pub/bar & grills have taken over.... There use to also be a place here in Ga.
called ( Charlie Williams ) Oh yeah! best food in the state, it was way back in the woods on an old Farm, raised there own Catfish and served fresh,only open weekends and was always thriving to serve what folks wanted, You name it he would get it, from Frog legs to crab legs, steaks & shrimp, etc,
Had a Waterwheel corn meal/ generator for power, was a Venture to walk around the place after eating your meal, it closed down about 7-8 years ago as well,
and started catering at private events, ....

actually it is or was! it's been so long since seeing one around here I've started using correct terminology instead of their slang name

Not as far as I know; don't believe they ever got this far west. I don't think we've ever eaten in any of them, although we may have seen them in our RV travels.

There was one or two in the Sacramento area, but they closed years ago. They were around here in the late 80's or so. Ate at one a couple times. It was ok.
