Kubota ROPS rattle cure

I also have to lower the ROPS everyday to park it in the shed. I like the wedge idea and I am going to give that a try. I did 72 hours in just a month on a new B2620 and the banging ROPS is really getting on my nerves. I thought the two nuts welded on the ROPS were for auxiliary lighting. Can they be used as auxiliary light mounts(that's what I originally thought they were for) or are they just to lock down the ROPS?

I would think that you could use them for whatever you can make them work for. LOL

I haven't decided if they're for locking it down tight, or just positioning it so that the cross bolts go directly into the threads on the opposite side smoothly.

Mine didn't fit well to begin with, I had to file out a bit of material to get the cross bolts to thread in smoothly. As much as I like the foldable ROPS (nothing else would work in my situation) the simplicity and rigid structure of the solid one appeals to me too.

What I don't understand is why Kubota didn't ship the tractor with bolts in the holes, unless they ARE for something like auxiliary lighting ??

There's no mention of them in the manual.

Hey Sean...Just wondering, What is the thing/sign in your picture hanging from the top of your rops? It also looks like you have a rear light mounted behind your seat. Can you elaborate?

The sign is actually the rear licence plate, the back of the tractor is pretty cluttered so I had to build a bracket to put it up there. I don't particularly like the location, but it's about the only choice I had to have it visible.

The rear worklight is a 55w halogen, I added a piece of bed-frame across the top of the fenders to get a mounting point. Oddly enough, it works well as a stiffener to keep the fenders from vibrating too much.
The holes in the rear fenders are meant for round lights, the rectangular one was in the way of the signal/caution lights. I added a weatherproof switch on the dash as well.

Not being able to weld or drill the ROPS is a pain, the holes I'd add to it aren't enough to compromise the strength. If I thought I'd never want to trade the tractor sometime in the future I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Sean. That's a good idea with the light and your bracket. Hmmm...That bracket could also provide support for a tool box...you got me to thinking.

Am I the only one who got the bolt with the big black knob with my tractor?

I am going to go with the wedges, and thanks for posting that. The rattle drives me crazy, and I do have to put it down every time to back into the garage.

I never noticed the bolts either and that is some good info (no, my B2320 was not delivered with them). But the wedges sound like a better solution when they have to be removed every time I use it.

I think this is the beginning of the case for a larger storage facility but you pick your battles....

The wedges work well, I like the fact that you just have to drop them in and gravity does the rest.

I discovered something else about the 3400 a few days ago. I built the wedges when I was bush-hogging my fields and it seemed like it was shaking more.

So much that I got the local Kubota dealer out to have a look at it, and ask "Is this normal, and if it isn't where do we go from here??"

He thought it was "a bit rough", and left to check another tractor in their stock. Shortly after he had left, I was musing over what was different since the vibration started.

I had taken the loader off to get better turning radius and less weight on the front end. After re-installing the loader, vibration level went back to what it had been before. Makes a nice vibration damper, it seems.

I managed to get in touch with the service rep before he'd had a chance to run another 3400. He couldn't remember if he'd run one without a loader before, said it did make sense though.
