sounds like a petcock broke. if the core stayed inthe rad, try to back it out, then hit tsc for a new one.. or a plug for the time beaing.

ya it was just the drain valve (not terribly protected) ... i didnt have any tube to join the 2 pieces for the time being so i had to leave it out in the field for the night .. dealer gave me the bit for free (couldnt imagine it would be all that expensive)

one thing i learned is that even though it looks like a small leak, check both the rad and the overflow tank ... not just the over flow ... i guess a bit of syphon action was all it took to drain 2L of fluid over night

G'day valuable lesson learnt about the coolant I always tell my customers to check the radiator periodically as well as the expansion bottle as you can have a leak and a bad rad cap and it may not allow the fluid to go into the rad. Have seen it more than once, and usually when it is too late

At least your radiator drain is easy to get at. Mine needs a child-sized hand to reach.

When I used to mow in heavy brush alot, I went to straight pins with no loop, but they did have a hole in them for a hairpin.. I installed key ring loops in the pins instead. never lost another, and still prety easy to remove..

McMaster-Carr calls them 'cotter-rings' and you can get them individually at Deere dealers; part number M84180. They're just as secure as key-rings without the hassle of getting them open.

I don't particularly have any problem with key rings?

That's cool, I'm just providing an alternative to those that do. I've used key-rings in a pinch; but prefer the cotter-rings.

Pictures please gentlemen. Key-ring vs Cotter-ring.
