questions about moving emplement pins

/ questions about moving emplement pins #61
I guess My tractor has a hydraulic issue, I installed a bolt with tension spring and wing nut to the lever guide so's to provide a stopping point for the lever and lift, It now stops at the correct hight although after about 3 minutes the lift arms goes on all the way down, having to keep pulling the lever back up and starting over again and again, I have even tried putting the lift where it needs to be for the front of the cutter to stay off the ground and lock down the twist knob under the seat to try and hold it in place, but still it drops on down, I'm beginning to think this might had started back earlier this spring when plowing with the disk Harrows, The time when the lift got stuck in the up position and would not come back down through the lowering of the lever,

yea if it would lock out with the knob you know your problem.
the orings in the piston or leaking down. If it stops with the knob tightened down it is your valve leaking internally. My valve leaks down a little but only a inch or so every 5 mins or so.

I'm conducting a leak down test now after doing my rebuild. Currently at 24 hours with no measurable drop of the 3PH with the RB attached.

As I mention before in an earlier post, it only seems to be leaking down at the lower end of the lift while say letting it down to within 6" and under to the ground .... I've test it while it being at full lift and at less than 1/2 lift and it will hold there from over night or till now on.... its just at around the lower levels that will not hold in place, and just happens to be where the level of the cutter needs to be,
still sound like an O-ring? I know the O-ring you speak of because I had it off that time when the harrows got stuck up, and had to remove the piston in the valve, although I did not replace the O-ring while in there, simply took it out re-inserted it and put it all back together,

It could be a bad O-ring. If it was blown out it could have deformed just enough to cause problems. For the cost of an O-ring and gasket, it wouldn't hurt to take a look and replace them while you're in there. If it's anything like mine, it might be worth just getting a rebuild kit and going through it.

I my have found part of if not all the problem. I went ahead and drop the connecting pins down to the lower holes on the cutter, but yet still had same problem with the front sagging, I didn't really figure this would have help much,.... I began looking at something else I'd notice back when first purchased the tractor, and been curious as to what it was for and what perhaps could be missing? on the left hand side while sitting on the tractor just to the rear of the seat and close to the inside of the fender is a linkage that connects across to the up/down lever on the right hand side,
well at the left side of the upper lift arm there is a slot that this linkage slips into, this slot has a hole at the end that this linkage had dropped into which it is my belief has made the lift system become a Floating system... so I started playing around with this linkage and found that it can be pulled out of the hole and slip back into the slot and this allows the hydraulics to have increment stopping points, in other words now the lever will stop the implement at wherever I put the lever,
it does not fall on down,... However! there seems to look like a part of this linkage system missing? or either should be a spring in a hole that is on the end of this linkage..... does any of this make sense? and does anyone know what exactly might be missing?

I'm not familiar with your tractor, but if your relationship with your dealer is like what I have with mine, you should be able to swing in and look in the parts breakdown book. The exploded views are invaluable.

yea i got somethin similar to that crazy description. I got no idea what it does but my linkage is in the end away from the hole. I can lock my lift lever in posion and hold that position for as long as i can tell it stays there. The bushog rests so low to the ground when set anyway and i seem to have to lift it every few mins due to terrain or stums etc so about every 10 mins i pull up a little to keep from diggin dirt or beating the Sh@$ out of larger trees i cut flush withthe dirt but still raised.

Deep I believe this is the same. I had alot of play in the shaft also and had to replace the spring to the linkage and snug it up. it's been like this since right after I bought it with no problems what so ever.

here is a few pictures of the part I am trying to describe, the red arrow shows the part with the slot and hole, and the blue arrow shows the part I have no idea what is suppose to connect here?
The position you see the rod in now will allow the lift lever to stick wherever I place it, although the way I found this linkage down in the end of the slot at the hole must allow the lever to kick back, in order to move it out from this placement it must be pulled and slipped over, there is a Tab & spring on the other side to keep tension on this linkage so's not to go back into the hole,
