Dropped spout in the Gas Tank

Nostalgia -- the first post I made here was on exactly this topic.

Mine's still in there. I fish around for it every now and then, when I get bored, but I've never caught anything. What kind of bait did you use?

I think there was some spider webs on the coat hanger I was using, perhaps a spider ?? :laughing:

Well, I finally got this thing out yesterday. Tank was almost empty, and I took a coat hanger and fished it out.

Its a shame you didn't use this opportunity to buy a new tool. Like the politicians say, never let a crisis go to waste.

I have the same can. I take the spout off the can each time i refill & use a battery-operated siphon pump. It works great & doesn't spill a drop.

Messicks and everyone said just leave it there. Its been a year, no problems.

And now I have a proper filling station - it motivated me.

I dropped the fuel level measuring device in the gas tank of an airplane, when I was a student pilot.

That was fun getting that out; I used one of those flexible spring loaded gripper tools.

Did the same thing with a can from TSC spout feel of on first fill luckly i fished it out and ducket taped it on. Sound like a mfg defect.
