Well you know your field conditions better than I do but if you are using a forward rotation tiller it will push the tractor through slick spots. I played with my gear tractor (820) with a Howard tiller one day last year, I put the tractor in neutral just to see what the tiller would do. It scooted that tractor across the field at a good clip.

A counter rotating tiller would be a different matter.

Mine goes counter clockwise so you have to put it in gear to use it. It just basically needs to be pulled across the field around 1.5mph - 1.8 mph which is one of the speeds that we use.

I've just went to the dealer yesterday and my dealer guy gave me 60,000 lowest he said 61,950 was their special price. I was thinking, What? who would post the price they want it for they obviously want it for lower:confused2::confused:. The lowest he gave the 5525 for was 37,500 and im like 36,000 hes like no we already tried that.

Edward bottom line ad pricing seems to be more common with the web being used for research. A high price on E-bay or Craigs List stops me in my tracts.

Is $60K a show stopper for you? Looking can get expensive so would paying 5% more than expected not be a wash if you looked at all factors? Based on the hours and all I bet in 10 years you could not tell it from one you bought with zero hours.

While I am not knowledgeable enough to know exactly what the best price should be I recomend you think about where the prices will be in the future. My gut feeling is hard goods such as tractors will increase in cost, You need to make certain that buying this tractor makes sense for your business, that is a judgement call you will have to make. I know I would have to be able to prove to myself at least on paper that buying the new tractor was sound. These are tough times in business today and all we can do is hope and vote for what we feel is the best route to take for the future.

The diference between $55,000 and $60,000 is minute compared to 'should I spend the $55,000 at all'? In today's economy that is a tough call. While I have the resources to buy a new 6430 I am having a hard time convincing myself that it would be a good decision. I have also given the 6115 some thought too but suspect I would always wish I had bought a 6430 for its extra features. One thing I have learned is to not buy anything that I think won't meet my expectations in the future.

Good luck with your decisions,
